  1. No worries, I started 2/13 RN-MSN and am taking the same classes you are required to take. Do the COS and Powerpoints for stats and you will be fine. I am working on Health Assessments right now and hope to pass the test next week. I thought about appealing but chose to start as early as I have not heard of anyone getting ahead from a review. With stats if you put in 25hrs/week you should be able to pass the class in about 3wks and same for health assessments, maybe sooner. Good Luck
  2. You take a preassessment and have 3 trys if you don't pass you move to the Objective Assessment (Final Exam) a 48 question Test. The objective assessment is the only item you have to pass to complete the course and receive credit. With that said, reading the course of study and doing the webinars is a must in order to pass the objective assessment. I completed the course in 5 weeks, you can complete it quicker if you put in more time.
  3. I completed statistics in healthcare. If you are taking this class I would not concentrate on formulas. Get the basic terminology down and do all the webinars and course of study.
  4. I took stats at WGU. I think the official name is statistics in healthcare
  5. I did not appeal, as I have not heard of anyone gaining from this and I did not want to miss my start date. I passed my stats class last week and am working on my Health Assessment course which seems designed for nursing students. If you truly put in the 20+ hours each week I think you should be able to get through about a course a month, but we will see. When is your start date?
  6. Yes I start 2/1 RN-MSN Leadership and Management. After my transfer evaluation, these are the courses I have to take: Issues in Behavioral Science Language and Communication: Presentation Applied Health Care Statistics Biochemistry Health Assessment Clinical Microbiology with lab More then I had hoped but I am ready to get started.
  7. Reading your original post, my advice is to not "be that person". You have developed a reputation and you need to improve your practice by being consistent and trustworthy. To do this as a new nurse especially, you need to come to work up to an hour prior to your shift and gather information regarding your assigned patients, i.e. hx, iv, tele, tests, labs, Dr notes, etc. Know your patients thoroughly before you step into the room. You may receive this info in report but with your reputation and being a new nurse you need to be prepare yourself accordingly. The goal is to strengthen your reputation by showing that you are putting in the time. Your coworkers will see improved effort and develop respect for you. If you are not prepared to leave your current position you need to develop an action plan. Being a new nurse is very difficult; you are learning so much information on the job and on the go. The first year is the most difficult you need to be proactive in your approach. Ask lots of questions, you will find your peers respect you for being thorough. Find the coworkers you can trust and develop a bond with them and they may be able to mentor you through this tough time. You can do it!
  8. RN-MSN Leadership Feb 2013 "Transfer credit not met" Questions, Feedback Hello, I received my transfer evaluation and I have 6 courses that need to be completed. I am an RN with an Associate Degree Nursing. I have a couple of questions in regards to course transfers. Microbiology transfer states "not met" for transferability. In the requirement transfer section next to Microbiology the, transfer evaluation states "This requirement may be satisfied by an Associate Degree in Nursing". With my ADN am I not exempt? Another I was looking at is with the "Issues in Behavioral Science" the requirement section for this course states "one course in Life Span Human Growth and Development"; is Lifespan Nursing not an equivalent? I have to complete "Health Assessment" I have completed Normal and Clinical Nutrition is this a possible equivalent? Courses I have to take: Issues in Behavioral Science Language and Communication: Presentation Applied Health Care Statistics Biochemistry Health Assessment Clinical Microbiology with lab I may be reaching with the getting equivalent credit with the Behavioral Science and Health Assessment courses but it looks like the Microbiology should be exempt based on my ADN, right? I have heard I can request a re-evaluation; I am unaware of anyone benefiting from this. What are your experiences with transfers at WGU? Anyone else starting at WGU Feb '13? Can't wait to get started!
  9. 2/1/13 start date. I'm going for Leadership & Management at WGU
