  1. Hello!! I will be starting the GN Residency Program at Houston Methodist in January 2015 :) Did anyone else get accepted?
  2. To everyone who was put on the waitlist for Spring 2014, I just got an e-mail saying that they are offering me admission to the Summer 2014 Program, so be checking your e-mail! I have already been accepted into another Accelerated BSN program that starts next week, so I'll be declining. Good luck!
  3. Yay! Congrats @Amru! Glad you got accepted! Be sure to request to join the Facebook group! UHV Second Degree BSN Spring 2014
  4. Congrats! @Amy7 I just sent you a friend request!
  5. I can try to set up a facebook page later tonight if no one else can!
  6. I think there is an extra space at the end of the link, try deleting the end part so it ends with ".html"
  7. Congrats!! For anyone wondering where the Acceptance Acknowledgement Form and the Student Declaration Form are, they will be sending them out shortly...I just asked :)
  8. Yay!! Congratulations everyone! I'm so glad we all made it! I really thought we wouldn't hear anything until Thursday!!
  9. Ahhhh I'm accepted too!!!! I am so unbelievably happy!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!!!
  10. Haha, @apriljacklynn, I was looking for you and your pink pencil skirt all day!! I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you! But someone did point you out to me during the Q&A at the end and said that you were the one asking about the CCNE Accreditation :) I think you really impressed the Dean with that one!! Maybe the difference in the NCLEX pass rates comes from WHEN the students take the exam? I remember someone saying that the BON only looks at scores for that year from January - December, and I would guess that UHV looks at the scores from every graduate from that cohort, even if they take the NCLEX in January or February of the following year. Just my thoughts though :)
  11. I'm on the wait list and have not heard anything yet. I had an interview with another program today, and should find out if I'm accepted this Thursday or Friday. If I'm accepted there, I will give up my wait list spot with UTHSC.
  12. Yes! On the paper they gave us it says we should find out after December 4, so I'm hoping we hear something this Thursday or Friday! :)
  13. So glad the interview is over!! I'm glad that I got to meet a few of y'all today, and hopefully I can meet the rest of you at orientation in January! Fingers crossed that we all get in :) from what I heard today, there were only about 60-70 of us at the interview, so I'm hoping that means that our chances of getting accepted are pretty good! Thanks so much to all of the current students for your helpful tips and info. today! I was in group D, by the way. Good luck everyone!
  14. Do you have the Fast Pass application form? It says you can bring that with sections 1-3 filled out. It should be attached in the interview email we received.
  15. @jennytmuw, I think we might need to bring the CPR card, because on the letter/e-mail they sent us inviting us to the interview, it says "Provide original, current healthcare provider CPR card from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Please submit a copy of the card to ... prior to Friday, November 22nd at 5:00 pm." We might not need it, but I am bringing mine just in case :) I'm not sure about the traffic on Hwy 6 I will be coming from Katy, so I will just take 99 down to 59. Hopefully there won't be that much traffic tomorrow since we will be leaving so early! I hope to run into at least one of y'all tomorrow as well! I'm so excited and nervous that this day is actually here!!
  16. Good luck to everyone tomorrow!! Don't forget to bring your CPR card :)
  17. Hmm, I can only log in with my student ID as well, but I guess I just assumed that was fine. I wonder if we will need to be able to log in with our e-mail address as well? I am getting pretty nervous too! The interview is only 3 days away! All of our waiting is finally almost over :)
  18. Hi! Yes, you don't have to have the blue card, just bring the signed FAST pass form to the interview! Also, be sure you can log into your UHV email account!
  19. Thank you so much aea1029 and apriljacklynn! Thankfully I found out that UHV's spring break next year will be March 10 - 14, so I will be scheduling my trip for Friday, March 7 through Wednesday, March 12. Hooray! :) I did speak to another former student of this program, and she strongly advised against missing any classes as well. So hopefully if I fly out Friday afternoon I can get everything done for that week, and still make it to the wedding! Great idea about tripadvisor! Thanks guys!! Now to continue patiently waiting until interview day...getting nervous!
  20. I'm on the wait list. I wonder if anyone has been called off the wait list yet?
  21. Yes, I got the e-mail about the UHV application as well! Hopefully not everyone filled it out, and then there will be less of us to cut at the interview :) I have a question for any current students....do you know when we will have holidays/breaks? Is it ever possible to miss a day of class? I'm just thinking ahead, and if I DO get accepted, I will have to go to a wedding in Costa Rica on Saturday, March 8. I need to schedule my flight soon. Should I just plan on flying out on Friday, and flying back home on Sunday? Or if I have Wednesday clinical, would it be possible to leave after class on Thursday night, and fly back home on Sunday? I'm guessing I wouldn't want to miss Sim Lab Day (Monday), right? I don't want to pay $750 for a plane ticket and only stay down there for two days, but I definitely DON'T want to miss anything in class or fall behind...that is way more important. I know there are a lot of "if's", but any advice would be very much appreciated!!
  22. I don't think we are required to have the immunizations by the time of the interview, but I wanted to go ahead and get that completed in case they ask for the paperwork while we are at the interview. But I don't think it will count against you if you don't have it. We just need to have them done by the time the program starts, if we are accepted!
  23. @jennytmuw, the "titers" are just blood tests to show what you are immune to. So, for example, you could either show documentation that you have received all 3 Hep. B vaccines, or if you don't have the shot records, you could get a titer (blood test) to show that you are immune to Hep. B (basically if you have received the vaccines but don't have the shot records available). Hope that makes sense. I just went to Walgreens and got all of the immunizations done, but I am getting a titer done to show that I had chicken pox when I was younger, since I don't have the documentation.
