camp is over- how was it? Any issues ?
=campnurse;2370631]I had a great summer, hope you did also. The kids were great, had lots of yellowjack/wasp stinks, one anaphalactic reaction to a rabbitt that was pretty scarry. No allergies on form or according to mom(MD). She was shocked and very greatful to us for handleing it so well. Had a few cases of nits( a real pain) but we managed. We used natral substances instead of chemicals. I hear that some of the camps hired outsiders to do lice checks and clean ups! would love to hear about this. Maybe our directer would consider it. How does that work?. Would love to hear from other camp nurses on your experiences this summer. lori

Salary for camp nurses
I think that like any other job it depends on experience, availablity, and staffing needs. The cost of tuition at each camp is different and they take that into consideration- good luck and enjoy camp. lori

Finding Camp Nurses
This is the first time that I have had trouble finding a nurse to join our team of 4 RN's . We are lucky to have a full time MD which is a great feature. I am a school nurse and have tried all of my friends who work in my area. 3 of us are returning so I am lucky to only need 1 more. I wish you luck and if you find 2, send one my way. The camp I work at is in the Catskill Mountains of NY. lori 646-670-8944

Camp Nurses, I need some help
sounds like a great project, but will camp directors be able to inforce the use of sun screens. I have found that many parents don't send it to camp with the kids. One year I bought a huge supply to send off with our water skking groups and some of the kids refused to use it. Hope it works. lori

Camp Nurses - Please Introduce Yourself Here.
Hi I have been a camp nurse for many years and love it. Working at a co-ed sleepaway camp gives me the opportunity to treat children and staff of all ages. Our camp has 4 RN's and a full time MD. We are 12 miles away from a great hospital. I never feel isolated. Working in an camp is different and exciting, there are no two days alike. There is always something unual happening. I think that sharing ideas and work historys with the other nurses bonds us. We work shifts, but we all always help each other when the need arises. Communication just flows. Camp takes you to another level of work. No cooking, cleaning, planning schedules for your kids, no food shoping and no driving the kids to activites. We have drivers at camp that take the kids to appointments and to the hospital if necessay. I think that anyone who has the time and camp age children should give it a try.My favorite activites are swimming and ceramics and I get to do them daily. It is heaven, call me if you want any adivce. I love to talk about camp. lori 646-670-8944

Medication Policies/Procedures
Awhile back someone mentioned a bubble pack that they used for dispensing meds. Anyone have any info on that?
