  2. This is what I read also, but I just wonder why ventrogluteal site coud not be used? Everything I have read lately is that ventrogluteal site is being recommended as best practice over dorsogluteal site due to concerns of hitting sciatic nerve with dorsogluteal site. I have had patients report that they received the Risperdal Consta injection in the hip when in the hospital. I want to implement best practice guidelines but also make sure that I am not doing anything that would be contraindicated.
  3. I work as a community mental health nurse. I know that the ventrogluteal site is best practice site for IM injections. in the Risperdal Consta injection guide it only shows deltoid and dorsogluteal sites as options. I am wondering if it is ok to do ventrogluteal site even though drug guide indicates dorsogluteal or deltoid?
