  1. This may seem like an odd topic but it has been bothering me a lot. I'm 5'6 and balding super rapidly. I have this fear that being ugly as a nurse will hinder my career. I have worked so hard for this and there is nothing I want more than to help others. I just don't want to be treated badly or less. I truly do not suit being bald at all and it makes me look rough as some have said. Is it possible to be a professional like a nurse while being hard to look at ? I'm only 22 years old and I'm set to start nursing school in spring. Will I be left with less deseriable positions as a nurse ? Thank you for the help.
  2. I'm a senior in high school and I have my NA already. I want to be a very strong candidate when applying for a nursing program. I plan to work as a CNA and volunteer. My question is where should I volunteer. A nursing home or a non profit organization changing kids lives? Or even a hospital? Please give input.
  3. Okay so I'm very confused. Can you please tell me if I have this understood correct. A LPN is a Rn with out a bsn? Also know as a (AS) And a Rn bsn is a Rn with a a bachelors? Also to get me through school can you make a decent living with only your RN (AS) while you work toward your RN BSN? thanks
  4. Thanks for the input but you still have not responding to my question about the NLN exam. I don't feel prepared for the science and anatomy sections to pass. My question is will the pre req classes prepare me to do better or should I already be expected to know everything? Also biochem is a pre req for Normandale :/ I have already obtained my acceptance letter and talked with them about the nursing program. Thanks- Also I have not gotten accepted to the nursing program but the school itself. Can't apply to the program until I finish the pre reqs and take the NLN exam.
  5. I have to take the NLN to get into the nursing program at Normandale. I bought the study guide but the science section is so far beyond what I have learned. There also are anatomy questions and I have never taken anatomy before. Im still in high school and I graduate this year. My question is for the NLN test should I be able to take it right out of high school and do well? Or do the pre reqs to get into nursing teach you to do better in the science section. Pretty much do people get prepared for the NLN test by taking MicroBio and BioChem and Anatomy in college or should I be expected to take it right out of high school and do well? Im worried, The science is crazy. I have taken basic biology, environmental science, physics, and honors chem right now.
  6. First off let me give a little background of myself. I'm 18 years old and had a very difficult childhood. I was in Special Education for 8 years. The only time I ever had any type of schooling was 10th,11th,12th which I am a senior now. The truth is when I entered 10th Grade I had an extremely hard time. In Special Education they have very little emphasis on academics and focus all on behavior problems. I stuck it out and took basic classes. My whole life I have always wanted to be a nurse. My mother was a nurse. I would consider myself very smart for what I have endured in life. I don't want to brag or anything but 3 years ago I had no idea what an essay was. These last two years I have truly challenged myself. My senior year is by far the best. I am trying my best to take classes to show colleges how much I care. Im currently in: Honors Chem, AP English Lit&Comp, Ap Us Govn, Ib physc, And very basic math because I do struggle with math a lot but I am doing good in Chemistry. So I am in a math class for seniors called College prep math . The moral of the story is, when I set my mind to do something I can achieve anything. I am truly set on being an RN. Im faced with a really huge problem. I'm afraid with my history I will find it really hard to get into a Nursing Program. I already am accepted to a college called "Augsburg" but they don't offer Nursing. I plan to take my pre Req there and then transfer to a Nursing school. My question is honestly How hard is it to become a RN? Not the work load, but actually getting into a Nursing program. My GPA in high school is 2.7 but the reason I got accepted into Augsburg is because of what I have overcome. My ACT is only a 22. Im really stuck on being a Nurse. If I go to Augsburg and maintain a 3.5+ which I know I can. I have all A's in Advanced classes, will It be to hard to get into a Nursing program these days? I want to ask people with knowledge in this area so please give me advice on what steps I should take in order to be successful in being an RN. Thank you so much.
