  2. I also was accepted and will be attending in the fall. I was wondering if you have received your acceptance letters for fall yet. And Congrats!!!
  3. Just been accepted today for fall 2013. I was wondering when we have to submit deposit to hold your seat. My advisor was scare on telling me that????
  4. I have just been notified that i have been accepted into Psychiatric Mental Health Track for Fall 2013. I was wondering when the deposit is due to hold your seat. My advisor did not go over that with me just stated 400 is due before I start. Do the instructions come with the letter i will receive.
  5. You applied in December sometime or early January. What was your gpa and stats like.
  6. I'm no CNA. I was formally a paralegal and was a pre law student. I graduated with a 3.4 and struggled my first year. I have managed to almost complete all my Pre Reqs in under 6 months and have straight A's and A-'s so far. I have been volunteering at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund for almost 8 months and was the President of the National Political Honors Society of my School and ran various campaigns on campus for Down Syndrome and Autism. That's as far as I go. Lol
  7. That may be your best bet since its much cheaper than Northeastern. I may apply to cheaper tracks as well since I have to reapply to go through to PMHNP. More applications lol. I can't believe they called you two weeks after. What was your GPAS like and health experience.
  8. Congrats Angelica, I recently applied to the online track to begin in the fall. When did you apply to start and when did you apply this year. I hve not heard back yet from my advisor and still praying. I applied to the Mental health track. I know she stated that in the Neonatal or PMHNP programs you have to apply while in the program and get accepted to continue to the masters portion, only administration get to go through it to the masters without applying. Samme
  9. oau3- Is that for the online track or traditional program?
  10. No, not even for psych yet. They said soon.
  11. hey hellosun, I heard you got in congratulations. I have not heard anything yet sadly. I was wondering did your application status change on the online application website that it was under review. Mine still just says submitted. and what did they tell you about the other slots they where filling anything.
  12. That is all awesome, i wish you the best outcome truly for the both of us. I have also had many amazing experiences volunteering a Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Meeting the children at the Jimmy Fund has truly been a god given gift to me. Seeing there struggles has helped me want to sacrifice myself for them. Seeing them smile is truly amazing. I was previously a law student and switched to this as my new found calling just recently as of last semester. I used all my savings to take Medical Micro, A&P I, Human Growth, A&P 2, Religion Psych, and lastly finishing Chem and Stats by April. I am completely broke and have gone through all my saving as a paralegal. UGGHHHHH lol but it is worth it. Currently I don't have the highest Uundergrad GPA of a 3.3 but have a high pre-req GPA and good recommendations from Dana-Farber and MD who i assisted so i guess i will be praying too lol. I will be applying to MGH, MCPHS, Boston College, Quinnipiac, Curry and praying some more in the future. My mother was a CNS for 25 years so she had a lot to do with this recent decision. Now that she is disabled and had to give up her job i truly want to pick up her commitment and carry it forward. I am hoping my interesting background and determination and personal experiences will help them drive them to accepting me. Looking at someone for numbers and GPA's is not a good way to accept someone at any school. I hope the best for you, and you wont be competing against me since i applied to Fast Track Online Psychiatric Mental Health.
  13. what experience did you have, and what program online ABSN or traditional: Hellosun are you male or female lolol that can help to sadly the director said they are truly trying to diverse the program. what pre-reqs have you taken the more difficult ones like Microbiology, Anatomy 1&2, Chemistry and Human Growth help out more as a factor than Nutrition and Statistics I also have been volunteering at Dana Farber as my experience for about 6 months. Have a 3.4 overall in Political Science and Law and a 3.82 in pre-reqs for Microbiology, Human Growth development, Anatomy 1&2 and And Social Science a Religion Psych Course. It also matters she statted where you took them at a community college vs a university and how long ago the more recent the better. -sj10125

  15. I applied and have not heard anything either, but applied to online program only
  16. Hey everyone, I just applied to this program to start this fall 2013 cycle. I am currently in the process of almost completing all my prerequisites and finally completed the application. I am a male so my friend shave been battering me on this new path as usual. My overall GPA was a 3.3 and Pre Req GPA is a 3.6. I have been volunteering at Dana Farber for several months now. Three pretty good recommendations from my research assistant job as a psychiatric specialist, advisor and dana farber. I was wondering if everyone could elaborate on what they applied with and if i have a chance. Thank You, Samme
  17. did you apply for fall 2013 or summer 2013. What classes have you completed and what are you grade stats. Wondering what type of people apply to online.
  18. Dear Fellow Applicants, I was wondering if anyone could create my personal statement before i submit it this week. I have had it critiqued by several faculty including a FNP. My number one school is northeastern. Statement: There have been many incidents in my life where it seemed I spent hours sitting by a hospital bed, or in a bedroom. My mother, a Registered Nurse, has been battling Addison's Disease for all my life. This is a long-term illness where, as a compassionate son, I assumed command in trying to help her in anyway possible. As I sat there striving to increase her spirits as she did for me throughout my school-aged years, I realized there was no higher personal reward than caring for others. During frequent hospital and in-home visits, I was constantly watching and admiring a specific group of health professionals, the nurses. Being exposed to many caring nurses, and watching how they interacted with my mother and my family has motivated me to seek a career in nursing. I believe there are very few truly inspirational career paths and that is why I chose to pursue a second degree in nursing. This decision is one of personal development, which I did not become conscious of until recently. By age twelve, I learned how to administer insulin for my mother when she couldn't fix her bandages, assisted in her activities of daily living, and helped her sort medication for the week. These tasks seemed ingrained in my function as a teenager. I loved caring for my mother immensely and never wanted to leave her side. I felt as if leaving her helpless would lead to her passing. I realize now that these experiences were a lot of responsibility for an early adolescent. In fact, it was difficult for me to leave her after high school to attend college. However, I did go away to school and fought through a very strenuous first year. With support from faculty and student services at the University of Tampa, I was successful in obtaining a bachelor's degree in Political Science. I was honored to be nominated by peers and faculty and named president of the National Political Honors Society. Academically, I never obtained less than a B+ in any academic major class. Although I did well as an undergraduate student, I did not feel that a career in law was a good fit for me. I began a life-altering struggle to find a career path that I knew was the right one. Working as a volunteer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for the past several months has changed the very core of what my career choice shall be. Prior to this, I served as a clinical research assitant under the supervision of MD Thomas Morgan for several years in and out of leaving for school. In this role I was able to engage in patient interaction within his private practice and learned crucial ways to assess mental health and communicate with patients. I ran the front desk of the office scheduling appointments, prepping patient files and documents, and assisted him on clinical research as well as legal issues with my prior degree. Through both of these extraordinary opportunities in health practices, I have been influenced greatly. Particularly, Dana-Farber has been of great importance to my career decisions. I chose the volunteer role "Book Cart/ Caretaker." The role is to interact with patients on a weekly basis, and to help them develop interests, which may distract them from their suffering. As I meet people through this volunteer experience, I realize that many of the issues that I have been concerned about are minuscule in comparison to the patients at Dana-Farber. To help them discover what they enjoy reading is comforting for both the patient as well as myself. In being able to establish and learn their interests, I have also developed a deeper understanding for the amazing lives these patients lived outside the hospital. It also has given me a more meaningful inspiration to devote my life to others rather than myself. Seeing these patients even just on a once-a-week basis changed my entire outlook on life. I enjoy the opportunity to help people during crisis, as I once did with my own mother. These are all characteristics I believe a nurse should possess. With these qualities under my belt, I believe I will make a wonderful nurse. Lucas Clarke is a young cousin of mine. He loved to play like every other kid and enjoyed taking care of his families' farm animals. I taught him how to play the guitar, which he further came to enjoy greatly. After discovering he had leukemia, he went from an amazingly happy young boy displaying no symptoms to a saddened child with advanced cancer. He passed away on March 22, 2011. Witnessing the care and determination displayed by the nurses caring for him was astounding. This was the largest impact on me. It not only made me realize again the importance of nursing, but also made me realize my desire for a career in nursing. I hope to specialize in pediatrics, or psychiatric mental health focusing on child care. Children have always played a major importance to me, and the construct of what I believe is a crucial period of one's life. I have always been involved with children, from sponsoring and running walks for the Down Syndrome Society for my nephew, to raising money for multiple organizations for unfortunate children. A significant role in my life is designated to giving back to the community. Since I have become aware of this newfound calling, I have devoted all of my time, financial savings and resources on obtaining a second degree in nursing. I have taken many of the prerequisite classes needed since my previous degree was entirely different from a health profession. Not once have I regretted this life-changing decision. I have been moved by this newfound path and my motivation is greater than ever. I know that there are still many obstacles to come, but my desire and commitment to the field of nursing will allow me to overcome those hurdles. Maintaining a stable and passionate attitude through the advancement of your program is the best defense. I feel that my prior education, working development, overcoming personal struggles and especially my hands-on experiences as a volunteer, has given me the drive, work ethic, and knowledge to successfully proceed through your Online Direct-Entry Nursing Program.
  19. i am glad to here form your post. Switching from law to this people must think i crazy. I don't care about money or salary i just want a job that fulfills what i believe will make me happy. Every school has different standard so applying seems endless and nerve racking.
  20. hey fellow applicants. I am currently in the process of applying to the Direct Entry program here. I am wondering if previous accepted applicants could give me a rundown off what credentials they brought to the table to get in. I was a pre-law major and had a very dramatic experience shift me in this direction, "a calling". I am currently finishing up my pre's and filling out applications. I also wanted to know who you contacted for recommendations. Currently a 3.3 GPA From Tampa and a 3.7 in prereqs. AMost currently a volunteer at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and 4 recommendations, one from there, one from my past professional experience from working in a clinical setting with a doctor on patients, my previous advisor, and my current teacher from my nursing class who is a DNP. I hosted many health awareness forums at my university, and was elected the political honors society acting president, and ran the council to help find students build homes for America.
