Hey Guys, I just got into MGH IHP for the direct entry nurse practitioner program in adult acute care. I was wondering about the loan repayment plans through Nurse Corps, or the NHSC loan repayment options. Ideally I would like to serve and get a fair chunk of my loans taken care of as well as the experience that would set me apart from new grads. My questions aren't on the reimbursement, but rather wondering if the programs will accept me because of the acute care specialty? Also, does anyone know how hard these scholarships, or repayment plans are to get? Are there any other programs that are similar to these? Thanks,

@katherinewerner I guess I gambled because I would not be able to go at all if this didn't happen. From what I was told, those of you that are going there will have a much higher chance of getting in than I will because of this.

I think you're fine honestly. I was the 60Th percentile for my GRE 3 years ago. my first 4 years I messed around and had a gpa of 2.3, then transferred and spent 2 years back at home. The gpa there was over 60 hours as was a 3.4, and my grad school gpa was 3.65 in MS of Healthcare Admin. I am published in a chemistry journal and have 2 posters at chemistry conferences and have 2 years experience there. My volunteer experience was close to 500 hours in PT, ER, Med surg, and Camp settings. That being said, I was rejected from 3 of the 6 schools I applied to, and received no academic scholarships from any school. I got into MGH, Regis and am waiting on UIC currently.

I will try for Skype, but I just can't afford it right now to drive or fly up there.

I am in the same boat. Its really hard to fly out there. I think this means I am not going to get in at all. Such is life. I at least have a plan B

Yeah dude, I am in southern KY and I think I will do the same. It's just too expensive right now with having a minimum wage job.

That makes me nervous because I think everyone else that is really qaulified will come into the Acute care settings and may bump me out. I had no idea that it was THIS competitivie.

I would love to go to UIC. I am already in at MGH, but I think I need to wait until I have all my schools that I can attend on a table with my girlfriend's school and go where we can together. Here's to hoping I can go to Chicago with you all. It would be a lot closer to home than Boston and cheaper in terms of tuition. Like $30,000 cheaper.

Dude, you'll get in somewhere. I can't imagine you not getting in based on what you told me.

I just submitted my app. I already got in at MGH so this would mostly be a feather in my cap, since I think I am going there.

I got a letter that said I could reapply for free even though I was declined for the upcoming term within the year....? Huh? Anyone else get this type of letter?

KDonchez, and abigailjane, I am also in acute care and willing to live with some people. I likely will be coming to Boston with my girlfriend, so a 3-4 bedroom apt would be amazing to have with classmates! I'll PM you.

@soushii did you get into Columbia and not MGH? Is that even possible?
