  1. Hi shine4! I did have my senior preceptorship there, and I read from previous threads that that's how UC Davis places you. My interview will be on Thursday. Suuuuuper nervous, as this is my first nursing interview. Good luck! I hope you do as well =]
  2. So glad to have run into this thread! I got a call on the 11th for the NICU! Congrats and good luck to everyone! Not sure if we can request the start date, but I'll keep you guys posted if I hear of anything.
  3. Hi Future.nurse7! Oh the dreaded ATI comprehensive test....You are so lucky that your cutoff is a 71.3%! I just barely passed mine last week -- our cutoff is 77.3%! On the practice comprehensive, I got 58% and 62% and studied my butt off to pass the real test. I would suggest doing ALL the practice tests (the 2010, and 2013 for maternal health, mental health, community, leadership, and all the targeted medsurge tests). Read the rationales for every single question, even if you get the question right, because sometimes, they do give you extra information. As I took the tests, I would take notes on things I didn't know. For example, a question asked, "A pt is taking Phenylzine (Nardil). What is a food that this pt can eat?" Well you have to know that Nardil is an MAOI, and a major contraindication is tyramine, so you have to pick the food that doesn't have tyramine of course. You think I knew which foods don't have tyramine?! Nope, but the rationales told me, and I'd write that down. You should also have more practice tests under your "Tutorials" tab under Learning Systems. You're SOSO close though, so just study, and you will be fine! Hope this helps! Emily
  4. holy cow! Thank you so much for your help again =] I have the PDF version of Pharm, so depending on how effective it is, I might just buy the actual book (I like reading from books more than PDFs). And I'll definitely buy the study guide too. It's just hard because the class is online, and our professor is on the other side of the country, so it's hard to actually learn from it because we don't go to lecture. I also bought Jarvis and Ackley too. Do you think we'll use those again? I'm assuming so because of the NANDAs and such...
  5. hey markE again! I'm currently in my second semester of the ABSN program and everything you said has been true so far! Thank you for your input, btw =] I do have another question though. Do you think we use every book in our assigned reading list? I know some students who paid $800 for all their textbooks, and I'm wondering if we only use them for this semester, or do we need them for future classes? This would help in deciding whether or not to rent or buy the textbooks, if you know what I mean? Please let me know! Thanks!

  7. Wow! apparently, everyone went to UCD, including me haha. I'm at the San Marcos campus though. Glad I got to meet some people at orientation!
  8. Hi tnt1nees, I applied in mid-September, and heard on November 1st or so. I'm assuming it takes a bit to look through applications. Make sure you've turned in ALL your transcripts, which would really speed up the process. Good luck to you!
  9. Also, MarkE, how do you like the program?? I've read that the first semester isn't too difficult, and neither is the second, but there is just a lot of busy work and reading. Is that true?
  10. MarkE, thank you for your info! I completed the intent, CSU mentor registration, background check, and got the e-mail for orientation. So I guess all I have to do is just to attend orientation, and wait to do the drug test in February? And I actually got into the San Marcos campus, so I would appreciate ideas on rooms closer to there if you know of any!
  11. Hello CSUSM10! So I just turned in my deposit/letter of intent, and I was wondering what the next step in the process is? Like, when should we be expecting information about background checks, orientation, etc.? Also, is there some sort of housing program for incoming students? Thank you!
  12. Congrats munsy! I am in the same boat as you, but looking for roommates close to the San Marcos campus. I'm just looking at Craigslist at the moment, but I'm hoping that once orientation rolls around, I can meet more people who want to find a place. We'll see!
  13. I almost went there, but went to Davis instead and absolutely looooved it! I applied to Stanislaus and Samuel Merritt as well. How about you?
  14. Also, if anyone is looking for a roommate, I think it would be great to live with fellow classmates so we can study together. I know a lot of people are probably going to commute, but please let me know if you're interested!
  15. Oh sweet, there is another CSUSM spring 2013 ABSN thread! Like ABSN2b, I received an e-mail telling me I was conditionally accepted to the San Marcos campus, and I received a letter in the mail today saying the same thing. @Sashapatra, I don't think you have to worry with 31 points. I'm not exactly sure how many I had, but I got an 88% on the TEAS, which put me in the 98th percentile. My last 60 units was about a 3.3, I think. Honestly, I just applied and turned in all my necessary transcripts and scores and just waited to hear back. I know it's nerve-wracking but as long as you get your classes done, you should be fine!
