  1. Hey! I just started working at Cedars as part of the October cohort. I was also frustrated at the beginning by the lack of information provided about their program, but everything eventually makes sense. They do such a wonderful job of providing resources and making sure you're ready to work as an RN on your own! Some of my classmates from school are not having the same experience at other local hospitals. I work days and my hourly pay is $40.15 for a 12 hour weekday shift. There is a $7 hourly shift differential for nights. There's also a weekend differential. Hope this helps
  2. WELL, that's that. Also got my rejection letter. At least some closure, finally!!!! HUUUUGE congrats again to everyone who made it, and best of luck in your future endeavors for those accepted, those going elsewhere, and those who will STILL be nurses SOMEDAY sooner than you know it :) Just keep swimming! USD it is for me then!
  3. Just thought I'd ask -- when comparing the student organizations at USD vs UCLA, I noticed that USD has a Sigma Theta Tau chapter (nursing honor society) but doesn't have a Alpha Tau Delta chapter (the professional nursing fraternity). UCLA, UCI, Mt. St. Mary's, and CSULA all have one. On UCLA's website it says "College chapters are established only in schools of nursing fully accredited by the National League for Nursing" and upon further investigation, I realized that USD isn't accredited by the National League for Nursing. Does anyone happen to know if that really means anything?
  4. Parents just called saying we got the letter in the mail today -- also waitlisted.
  5. For those who haven't received a call or letter or any sort of notification from USF yet..... did you submit your application just before it was due? I pretty much submitted mine at the last possible minute. Just wondering if they're going through the applications based on the order they received them...
  6. I need to stop checking this forum!! lol
  7. I am too!!!
  8. thank you I AGREE. I feel like I know all of you! hahaha
  9. Worst birthday week ever
  10. I really put my heart and soul into my personal statement. I guess UCLA just isn't for me...
  11. This was my thought process too. Also, many people either don't know about this forum or publicly posting their opinions (even if anonymous) just isn't their thing. There could be a ton of others admitted but we would really have no idea. UCLA is known for rejecting good applicants with great GPAs and stellar resumes for others -- they really look for a specific image. I'm not giving up hope until they tell me I'm rejected, but I guess if UCLA doesn't think I'm a good fit for their program, then I'll have to accept that. It doesn't necessarily mean that I'm a bad student or that I'm not going to be a good nurse. Maybe I would excel more in a different program that's more "fit" for me anyway. I guess the rest of us just have to look at it this way. If you really want it, each one of you will be a nurse someday. We'll just be taking different roads to get there :) Congrats to everyone accepted, and good luck to those waitlisted!!
  12. So is this the end?
  13. I think what I meant was updates for the MECN program specifically, or at least on this board. It makes me uncomfortable that the first big wave went out and the rest of us are just kind of floating in limbo. @max79 Definitely the worst roller coaster ride ever!! I feel like I've been suspended in that moment just before the first major drop this entire week (and it's only Wednesday?!)
  14. I still think it's so weird how UCLA went completely silent yesterday Hoping for more news today... Good luck everyone! :) (again)
  15. @nna2928 me too exactly... would have loved to go back to UCLA just don't give up hope yet, maybe we still have a chance :) @robyntakesiteasy I'm starting to think the same thing too. I felt like I was about to throw up for a good three hours at work This anticipation is definitely making it worse...
  16. So there's still hope for those who haven't heard anything!!!!!! ....Right?!
  17. 74 reading this thread..... what a record! where have ya'll been this whole year??
  18. My last name starts with 'H' so I sure hope it isn't in alphabetical order So has anyone's status changed to anything other than accepted? I thought we were expecting acceptances in the mail, rejections online first? So much anticipation -- just hit me with it already, UCLA!! Stop teasing me
  19. Congrats everyone!!!!!!!!!!!! Still staring at "To date, no decision has been made on your application." I'm about to burst into tears at work, my heart won't stop racing!!
  20. Zero change via the online decision status link. I applied with my parents address and their mail doesn't come in until around 4:00 pm everyday so my dad & my cat are on guard now & until the mailman arrives with my letter!! (if there is one ) woohoo good luck everyone!
  21. I told myself I wouldn't get my hopes up or get worked up over this again until the official admissions council's decision was staring me in the face but.... OH MY GOSH!!! Can it be?? JUDGEMENT DAY IS FINALLY UPON US
  22. @deekayy Thank you!! But yes, USD = one heck of a pricetag!
  23. At this point, I have also already committed to another program... BUT if I ever hear from UCLA, I'm willing to let go of that $1,000 deposit!! (as painful as that sounds ) But then again, I'm right there with all of you -- It's just so difficult and inconvenient because I need to start thinking about my living situation, whether or not I need to take another prerequisite course, and everything else that goes into planning the next year. And really, as much as I want to, I don't know if I will be able to drop everything and make UCLA work last minute. Talk about that waiting game...
  24. OH MY GOD. I've fallen for every single April Fool's joke that I've come across today. I literally jumped out of my chair and was about to call my parents to asked if they received the letter in the mail today!!!! Hopefully this really will be happening to us within the next couple of weeks! :)
  25. Seemingly silly question but I can't seem to find the answer right now Does anyone know the actual date classes would start? Or when epidemiology would start and how often we would need to go to class or if it's online? Trying to decide (if best case scenario) when I would have to leave work. Thank you!
