2014 CCP Nursing Program
the clinic is called Esperanza health center it's on 4417 North 6th street Philadelphia PA 19140 and the # is 215 302-3600 for the people that has insurance, they take most. for the people that don't, to become a patient bring iD and 2 recent paystubs. if you don't work at all I believe last year tax info would be ok, but you just have to call to find out. if your uninsured they charge based on pay. both my paychecks were 9 hrs @ 7.25 an hour. they charged me $15 to see the doctor and no more then under $70 to get everything except the 2 step ppd, which I did at another clinic before I found out about this clinic and I did that for $50 with the p/e included. anyway just call, become a member, and make a appointment (which are fairly quick) and I'm sure this clinic will be better then most As far as the health and liability insurance we are required to get. I called the # on one the papers we got in orientation which ccp recommended and they quoted me about $38. That # is 1800-247-1500 and although I don't have the # for the health coverage I did received the # from them.

Hey fellow nursing students, I just stopped by to see if I am able to help anyone. I'm almost done I'm just going to do my 2nd hepatitis V next week. I had no insurance and I still don't. I didn't have a copy of my immunization card, and I was in a panic. but I found a place that did everything for less then $100 and I was quoted for health insurance for 43 dollars a month, and the liability coverage for 38. and of course I have all the clearances completed. if anyone is interested please comment and i'll be glad to give you all my connection contact info on another note I want to commend the posters who are helping other students by answering questions. BECAUSE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO HELP YOUR FELLOW NURSING STUDENT! Its without a doubt will be one of the best experience for me and for other people here. I'm super exited and I just can't wait for it to get started.

2014 CCP Nursing Program
Ok hey everyone, its been a while since my last post because I was so occupied with A&p1 and work. A couple of weeks ago when I checked this thread there was a frenzy about registering and it got me freaked out thinking I wouldn't be able to get a schedule of my liking. So, I tried registering also but I kept getting a error message. I went to a allied health advisor and she informed me that no one can register until orientation and those that are registered may have their classes dropped before orientation starts on may 6. I also asked her about the physical exam and the shots needed and she told me to wait until orientation when the requirements is discussed in full detail because if done too early the shots may expire before the duration of the 2 yr program. Now please by no means consider this information written in stone. because I'm sure most of you know that there are only a select few in that room that knows what's what as it pertains to the nursing program. But at this point after speaking to 2 different allied health counselors I have no choice but to wait. I'm Just passing down what I've heard to my fellow nursing students. God if feels great to finally be considered a nursing student!!! anyway as far as the orientation packet goes, I'm sending out my child clearance tomorrow and I'm done with the rest. does anyone know how much the uniforms and supplies will add up to?

congrats bossyrobi, I almost dropped the laptop off my lap. yes mine has changed as well, but funny thing is my class was cancelled today so I thought I would stop and talk to a allied health adviser to see what was going on. after going no where with the lady I left, and a hour later I got a call from the admission dept stating that they was notified that I was concerned about my acceptance and they happen to be going over my acceptance packet at the time and wanted to reassure me that I was accepted. so I kind of got a hint before it happened. i'm happy but that letter will put me thru the roof. anyway, they suggested I take a&p2 and micro in the summer. is that possible? also why is everyone talking about psych? it's not a pre req right? I didn't plan on taking it. I feel so pressured already. I have to calm down.

Yes, I check it every morning before class and every night before I go to sleep. it's just extremely hard to predict when this letter is coming because of the new priority seating they're doing this year. Plus, people are still taking the AHT, there's a girl in my a&p class that's taking it the end of February.

thanks bossyrobi, hopefully I become more confident as the semester continues because it does feel overwhelming right now. i'm just trying to relax, do my best and take it one theory at a time. On a side note there is a app for iphones and androids that's called studyblue that everyone here should check out. it's amazing

I will definitely keep you posted. along with all my friends on facebook and instagram, lol. Right now i'm just trying to keep my mind occupied with this challenging a&p 1 course it's just the beginning and i'm so overwhelmed. But there is no way i'm letting my kids down. NO WAY!!!

wow!!! you don't know how happy I am for you and [COLOR=#003366]anyenydia I've been checking my profile twice a day and was getting concerned that there might be to many 9's and 8's that I might not get in. but if they went to 6's which I was told happens sometimes it gives me hope. I took my AHT on nov 25 and I have 8 points. thanks for sharing.

2014 CCP Nursing Program
hello and Congrats to the few that got in. And to most of us that are waiting, I can say in previous years most of acceptance letters are sent out in February after everyone has taken their AHT. I'm almost certain i'll be accepted with 8 points i'm just waiting on that acceptance letter to confirm. For the rest of you taking the allied test, I can tell you that it's different then any other test you take. although it's not a test you can study for, it would be a great idea to review. those seconds of thinking " I think I remember how to do this" are crucial. I reviewed my math out of a book called cliffnotes algebra 1 it went over fundamentals of algebra which is basic arithmetic. although it may not be beneficial to some, it may be the difference of another precious point in the point system. As for the reading and grammar potion, start practicing reading fast. but I wouldn't read so much the day of. And the biggest advice I have is to bring a watch and give yourself a few minutes to finish up and take good guesses before they say stop, because they don't warn you how much time you have left. And just because you don't hear about people not passing doesn't mean there isn't. I don't want to scare anyone but I want you to be aware of your time management that makes this easy test hard. Good luck everyone and i'm looking forward to sharing in the excitement of everyone being accepted in the coming months.

Congrats Aleia!!!!! wow it's so great you don't have to go thru the waiting period other people are going thru. I guess it's the new priority seating thing they are doing this year. will all your pre-reqs be finished by this semester? or are you all done. I took bio106 in the fall and i'm guessing I wont be accepted till my grades get in.

yeah I'm soooooo happy. I can't contain myself. I've been telling everybody, and I am not even in yet. for some reason this day came sooner than I thought it would, if that makes any sense. That is so good that you'll have only the nursing courses. I wish I was that ahead I'm probably 2 classes behind I'm taking Eng 102 and AP1 in the spring but I still have Diet111 and Soc101 not to mention AP2 and Micro. I'm only taking 2 classes because im also doing the CNA program and I am so scared of AP1 I've heard horror stories from so many people. is it as hard as people say? do you know a good teacher I could take? oh the Aht isn't bad at all, the time is what kills you. it's a different kind of test I have ever took because you don't have the time to double check or second guess. Good luck!!!

2014 CCP Nursing Program
Well I'm back with the first good news for this thread. I got my score back for the Allied Health Test today and I'm overwhelmed with happiness. I really can't remember ever being this happy in my life. I got a 19. that score might be low for some people but i spoke to people that didn't pass at all last year and had to retake it this year. I honesty don't care about the test itself I'm happy to have 8 points!!!!! if you familiar with the points system they accept 9's and 8's and maybe 7's so my counselor ensured me that i have a 99% chance of getting in the program unless something drastic happens in my fall semester. on a side note I've realized that inspiration can be found in the oddest places so in my attempt to reach out to those people that feels like how I felt, I share this with you. When i started in spring 2013 I had so much self doubt and to be honest i still do, but my confidence is building up every semester. anyway what i lacked in confidence i made up by being aggressive. the counselors at BG-07 are sick of me. the first few times I visited that office im certain that they didn't take me serious, mostly because they way I look and having no grades to judge me on. And im sure they get a lot of students that say they want to be nurses and don't do what they need to do to succeed. but that fact that they were shooing me away, like i was just wasting there time, really hurt me. but boy does it feel great being in my third semester with all A's and a 4.0 GPA. finally being talked to with respect. anyway don't get info from just one person, don't feel guilty to tell a person that's giving you information, if you could speak with someone else. it's your future. oh yeah thanks for your comment sunshyne. Off to go celebrate.
