Interviews in Colorado springs area....any advice?
I will be starting on nights in July. I am looking forward to the change. I will be in town on the 23rd/24th to take my drug test and finalize my paperwork. We are planning on moving out there at the end of June. Question... I was told Memorial has uniforms now... Do they provide them or do they just give us guidlines and we buy our own?

Interviews in Colorado springs area....any advice?
Well... I was hired at Memorial on the ortho unit. I was told that the pt ratio would be 4-5. I hope that is true. I have also heard that Memorial treats their nurses good. I am looking forward to the change!

What to do?
We have a separate glucose monitoring form in addition to the mar. The MAR was signed as giving the right insulin but on the other form I wrote that it was regular insulin given in response to an abnormal glucose reading.

What to do?
I just called my charge nurse and she said to fix the problem in the am.

What to do?
I just woke up out of a dead sleep and first thing that came to my mind is that I charted that I gave a patient regular insulin when in fact I gave a different insulin. What should I do? The patient was transferred to a different floor earlier this evening. Should I call the night charge and tell her or wait til the am when I go back and tell someone then?

What is the working invironment like in the hospitals, patient ratios and new grad training? Any input would be helpful.

Is this normal?
Thank you everyone for your support and advice. I talked with my manager today and told her exactly how I felt and that having too many different preceptors was affecting me. So.... they put me with someone new today and are going to keep me with him for the next month. I really felt like I accomplished something today.

Anxiety Prob/3 months into job
I am a new grad and I feel the same way. I have been having panic attacks all week. I have trouble sleeping and have to keep busy at home so my mind doesnt drive me crazy. When Im off I worry that I might have forgotten to give a med or chart something. From what I hear this is usually what happens during your first year in nursing. Can I just hit the fast forward button already!!!!

Is this normal?
I recently started my preceptorship at a hospital med/surg unit. Out of the 8 shifts I worked I have only worked with my preceptor 4 times. The other times I was put with other nurses who just happened to be available. My preceptor had to cover as charge nurse. I was put with someone who has only worked 6 months as a nurse and has never had preceptor training. My training is scattered and I am starting to worry about making it through to the six weeks. One nurse tells me to work this way and the other tells me to do it that way, then my preceptor gets upset because Im not doing things her way. Some of the nurses they put me with wont let me do anything but observe and pass meds. Is this normal practice? I am planning on talking to my manager next week and letting her know how I feel. This is just not working and I am starting to hate my job. Any advice?

Question for anyone living in Vegas
The community college offers a course for cna's. Try callling CCSN and they can guide you in the right direction. Also, the State Board of Nursing will have a list of accredited programs. I believe you can also find it on their website. hope that helps
