Paris, I agree with you. I am one of a group of students who filed the 2nd complaint that caused the CA BRN investigate this poorly run nuring program. Sad that it is the only distant learning program in California offered to LVNs. I wonder if there was good nursing administration how many more students could have graduated and become RNs. I felt that going to the Board meeting was very important. I found out more about nursing schools in California than I would have ever been able to find out just going to a nursing school's website. I agree with you, and my experience with ISU, shows that when a nursing program is not honest with its students, does not provide specific information about issues within the program or what clinical sites the CA BRN has authorized the school to use, I would look to another school. I am looking for another nursing school. When I attend the Board's mtg on the 27th, I realized that the only reason I was in the program was because of the information ISU gave me. I was shocked to hear that the Board's representative told the Board that during the investigation ISU had lied to the investigators. I don't know how many other people heard this, but this was the first thing I knew of it. Nice thing is that the Board meeting was video taped.

I was at the CA BRN meeting in San Diego on September 27th. I am an admitted student and one of the 2nd group of students to file a complaint with the CA BRN about serious wrongdoing within the ISU/SSU LVN to BSN program in California. When I came up agains problems, I talked to the department chair for the nursing department at ISU. I got nowhere. Then during one med/surg clinical we were told by the ISU hired instructor to sign our time sheets for 12 hours when we put in 5 hrs; the next week we put in a little more time but many hours less than the required 12 hrs that the syllibus said we had to put in. I sent off numerous letters to the program administrators and they never responded. Eventually, a few of us who were fearful that we would lose our license for going along with the conspiracy of silence or potential fraud went to the California Board of Nursing. We told them about the problems getting clinical sites and that it often took semesters to get into a clinical and how we in the med/surg clinical was required to submit timesheets for clinical time that we never did. I was contacted by the CA BRN investigator and so were the others who signed the group complaint. We were advised to come to the Board meeting in San Diego to give the information avbout what we knew about to the Board. We went as a group but the CSU chancelor closed the program down and we were not needed to discuss what we knew. I doubt that the things that happened to us in that clinical was what caused the CSU chancelor to close the program down. There had to be things that we do not know that started him to back out of the agreement with SSU. It would be nice if he would tell us what the problems were that made him back out.

I know what the original person who posted the information about the school and the program. I was in the class in the Long Beach CA medical center and have seen it all. I, also, tried to go to the distant learning university's nursing teacher and then to the nursing departments chairwoman, and finally all the way up. I did not get any place. I, also, received a similar letter that we are under the facilities hired nurse manager who was in charge of the class. The letter said that we had to do what she said and I sent a response that what the RN and the program is asking us to do was condone severe ethical wrong doing. I never heard back from that letter. This whole thing is very upsetting. i have lost lots of sleep worring over it. If submitting the wrong hours could be fraud or some kind of crimnal activity, I could lose my LVN license although I complainted, I went along with it.
