  1. Is everyone getting ready for COT? Besides setting up the flight out has anyone made other arrangements? How is exercise going? We are getting close now!
  2. Stozman, What is a "FB page"? If you google "Holm Center COT" you can find the inbound trainee site for COT. On crossfit, there are gyms in every city it seems like. I'm sure you won't have a problem googling crossfit Cincinnati and finding a gym
  3. Great post Dreaming1007! The info is very useful
  4. Candi2188, We are planning to have TMO move our things. My wife and I have enough on our plate for this first move not to do a TMO move. I will keep you posted on how the move goes in February. Nikidyo, Thanks for the info!
  5. If I were to get an ID card now before COT it would be a "reserve" I'd card because we are on reserve status before COT. if one doesn't get an ID card before COT, then they can just get their active duty ID at cot. I don't plan on getting an ID card before cot, I believe having orders will be enough to get onto maxwell for training and they will get us an id within the first few days.
  6. I took the oath of office today, then bought the basic uniform items for COT on Buckley AFB. Next is COT in January and on to Travis AFB CA. Wgreene1952, I look forward to meeting you when you arrive to a Travis AFB as I am also going in as critical care.
  7. Has anyone got their security clearance back yet?
  8. I am commissioning active duty but during the three month wait until I leave for COT, I have to commission into the reserves. I did talk to a reserve recruiter in case I was not selected for active duty. The application process for the reserves is similar to active duty except less competitive in the Denver area
  9. I am fq January COT
  10. I signed the acceptance lettet today and my background check was sent. My recruiter says the check could take up to two weeks, then it's commissioning into the reserves and waiting for official orders. I will be stationed at Travis afb California. COT is January.
  11. Just wanted to cue selects into a new thread titled "Air Force Jan 2014 COT" here on all nurses so that those of us going to COT in January can all prepare!
  12. As far as I known I will be attending cot in January. I am prior service enlisted Army. I want a heads up on the curriculum so I can be prepared. Have you started working on running, pushing, and sitting up? I am supposed to get my first duty station assignment info tomorrow or Wednesday and can't wait to see where we will be going after COT. January can't get here soon enough, we are all excited!!
  13. Ffemt, Thanks for the link to the military. Com checklists. They seem useful. Hang in there everyone still waiting to hear!
  14. FYI my recruiter did not know my assignment yet and said that she will know next week. Next item is the background check
  15. Call your recruiters!! results are out! My recruiter just informed me that I have been selected for critical care position. Leaving for COT in January! There is so much to do before than. We are keeping our condo as an income property and renting it out. Have to make arrangements for our kids.. Ahhh. exciting!
  16. 11 days! Im getting more impatient than a kid before Christmas!
  17. jfratian, I can relate to your frustration. My first communications with my recruiter was 9/18/12. We have been at this Air Force commission so long!
  18. aliseel25, Thank you for your post! This forum is most useful when we share information we receive from recruiters or other sources. What your recruiter told you is in line with what my recruiter told me when she drove me to my chief nurse interview. My recruiter told me that there is a new program manager who is "on it" and has been getting things done ahead of schedule. Do the recruiter have the ability to see the list of names that were sent to the general by chance?? Do you think our recruiters know if we are in or not but won't tell us until it is finalized or until the 21st?
  19. Definitely hoping for January!!
  20. Besides fitness I wonder what other ways we can prepare for COT? I am sure that learning land navigation and bruising up on drill and ceremony is a good idea. I wish or recruiters could give us updates on the board before the 21st.!
  21. Hang in there everyone. Hopefully we are all selected and go to COT together in January! Bayern, I am 6 feet. 160 lbs. It sounds like the run is 50% of the PT well score and body composition, including weight is another 30%, so our ability to run/weight is important to pass the PT test.
  22. How is everyone holding up waiting for board results?
  23. Midinphx, I am applying for a critical care position for the October board. My recruiter sent my info to ensure that I qualify for a fully qualified critical care position and the answer was yes. What is it like being a critical care RN in the Air Force? I am curious to hear any information you can share from COT, to your first duty station, to where you serve now. Like others on this forum I am counting the days/hours until we hear the results of the October board and any information that a current Air Force nurse provides is greatly appreciated! Getting selected will be a complete "life-changer" for myself, my wife, and my children. How did your life change since being selected?
  24. Hello everyone. I have not been back to the thread in a while. I was also an alternate for the cut clinical nurse positions in 2013. I have reapplied for 46N3E (critical care) for the October boards. I am hopeful this time around. My recruiter believes I will have a better chance at the 46N3E position because there are less nurses that qualify/apply for the critical care posistion. I would love to get selected and leave in January for COT, keeping my fingers crossed. Has anyone else applied for October boards in critical care? Any news on the boards? I have heard that there may be more numbers for fy2014 than originally anticipated.
  25. Carolinapooh, Thank you for your post! It is nice to hear from those who have already been through selection and COT. My wife and I were told that I am an alternate for COT Oct '13 but that we could be selected for Jan '14 as well. Our recruiter also told us that we would have a clearer idea by April or May. now that May has past and we have not heard a word from our recruiter, it is hard not to feel a little concerned. Most of the posts I have read make it seem that alternates are almost always selected eventually, which is promising. I am prior service Army so I understand the 'hurry up and wait' process but not knowing is harder now that I have a wife and kids. Can you give us any advice about COT or our first assignment? Like I mentioned it is nice to hear from those who have already gone through COT and are currently serving.
