  1. He said someone way up the chain was talking to someone on the scrolling side. But as far as my recruiter is concerned for day to day basis, he can only see if it's been approved. I know your wife was supposed to report today. What has happened with that?
  2. I'm still going active duty, I'm just waiting on my active duty scroll so I can make the May 22 COT.
  3. I commissioned last Friday. My recruiter told me they've moved my COT date in the AFRISS system from Aug to the May 22 COT. Apparently the people above him who are watching my active duty scroll are confident mine will be approved in time for the May COT. I'm just hoping each day to hear it's been approved so I know for sure I'm going!
  4. Still waiting on my active duty scroll. Reserve scroll is done, and security clearance is done.
  5. Apparently scroll approval has been changed recently. My background check came back also, and my reserve scroll has been approved. I am just waiting on my active duty scroll. From what I can find online, it appears a scroll takes an average of 12 weeks start to finish, but take that with a huge grain of salt.
  6. Here's some info on the scroll process: Explanation of "scroll" process and Timeline of events until receipt of COMDOCs | Page 8 | Air Warriors Basically, we are waiting for our scroll to get through Congress. This means we are waiting on various signatures that, once completed, will result in our commissions. Once our scrolls are signed and we have medically cleared and signed our contracts, we are able to swear in. According to my recruiter, scrolls tend to take a while, and there is no guarantee of timeline. He said they recently improved the process so now see "where" the scroll is, but he still does not know how long the entire thing will take. Once the scroll is complete, we have ten days to swear in. A conservative estimate, based on previous scrolls, would place the process at around three+ months. I would guess we will start hearing back in the beginning/middle of March.
  7. hiestaec that has to be frustrating! I can't imagine how difficult it is to have your plans up in the air, especially with two children to think about. Hopefully this is resolved ASAP so you have some time to arrange the move!
  8. Congratulations, nursynurse111! Awesome to see another ER RN get selected! We'll be going to COT together! Join our COT Facebook group. Search Facebook for: AF COT 17-06
  9. Hi, Dream031224! Beginning with these past nurse boards, the AF Healthcare Recruiting Service is requiring that all nurse candidates have already passed MEPS before the board begins. We were granted an exemption from this rule, because they made the rule right before the November Board started, so it would have been impossible to get all those candidates through MEPS at the last second. However, moving forward, all future boards require candidates to have already cleared MEPS. As for NICU locations: JB Langley, SAMMC, Landstuhl, Kessler MS, Lackland TX, Travis CA, and Kadena Okinawa.
  10. Awesome, tdunlap913! Nellis is a great base. You'll love the area as well. We'll be going to COT together. I just created a closed Facebook group for our class. Search Facebook for AF COT 17-06, and request to join.
  11. I'm really sorry to hear that, Alxnd261. Are you able to reapply?
  12. Just spoke with my recruiter! Officially selected as an ER/Trauma nurse! My COT date is Aug 14th, and my first base is Wright-Patt in Dayton, Ohio!
  13. Yes. I asked him specifically what information he'll have when he calls, and he said he will let me know my COT date and what base I'm assigned to after COT.
  14. Congrats, Eaglesfan82! Where was that on your dream sheet order? I spoke to my recruiter today and he said names are slowly moving over in the system, so he's hoping to hear my selection, COT date, and first base in the next 2-3 days!
  15. I passed MEPS day before yesterday, and am now medically cleared for service. I'll write a long post about it if anyone's interested. I spoke with one of the recruiters and was told that of the three nurses submitted to the board at this office, one was moved over yesterday into "select" status (the official update in AFPC) and received base assignment. Therefore, I'm hopeful the rest of us will hear soon about our status! I know a lot of people are asking about COT. Based on friends who got commissioned around this time last year in the nurse corps, we will most likely be going to the May COT, class 17-04, 22 May 2017 - 23 June 2017. I asked the recruiter about this and was told that the Jan COT (Jan 9 - Feb 10) is already full, so it will indeed most likely be the May class. The other thing that is a possibility is if you're "ready" to leave for COT (meaning you are free to go anytime the AF asks you), you can be contacted a couple days before and asked if you want to go to an earlier class. This happens because sometimes selectees scrolls (your commission that needs to be signed by congress for you to go to COT), get backed up and someone isn't able to attend. My recruiter told me he had a nurse that couldn't make the Jan COT this year, so he literally called another select like two days before the class started and said "we have an open slot, can you leave for COT tomorrow?" and they went. I let him know to absolutely call me if this happens, because I figure the sooner I get started, the better!
  16. Well I'm headed to MEPS on Wednesday. I'll let you all know how it goes! (Still waiting to hear official results) Recruiter wants me all set once results are out.
  17. Spoke to my recruiter. I was told that "unofficial" results are obtainable from the board, but that the official result occurs when your information is loaded into their system. Until that happens, it is still possible to be "deselected" (though rare). Therefore, this recruiter doesn't go by any "unofficial" information and is waiting for the individual updates in the system.
  18. No updates as of Wednesday afternoon. Anyone else learn anything?
  19. St.BaptistRN Congrats!!! That's awesome!!! I really hope to hear soon (hopefully a yes). As for getting ready for COT, my USAF friend wrote a really great blog about the whole process start to finish that goes into day by day detail of what happens at COT. COT: What Do I Bring? | Military Morgan, RN Check it out! I've found it really helpful. She's also a great resource with any questions; I message her frequently about AF stuff and she always gives me advice.
  20. Hey everyone! I found an old thread on AllNurses for this same process from last year! Some helpful information is on there, and also it makes me feel better to see other nurses who were anxiously waiting results just like we are now! Also, one of the nurses in the thread is a friend of mine who helped mentor my application! https://allnurses.com/government-military-nursing/air-force-fy2016-994594.html
  21. Unfortunately, as with most things of this nature, I have to put together an educated based on the varied information I have. As I understand it, there are different boards for each specialty (medsurg/er/ob/surgery/HPSP/critical care) but they meet at the same time. Whether the same people sit on them or not, I have no idea. I think as results come out from each board, they are sent to recruiters that have candidates in them. So if your recruiter only has candidates for boards that haven't been released yet, he won't have information (as there is none). I know my recruiter told me a while ago that boards have been delayed in the past for various reasons, so results came late, which invariably set a lot of COT dates back a couple months. And no, I haven't heard anything yet . . . I will post as soon as I hear!!!
  22. No you don't get to select COT. They assign you a date. Here are the class dates: Inbound COT Trainees
  23. Kr272: Did you get any information other than you were selected? Did they tell you your COT date or your permanent station yet?
