UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Most important part probably is "The Baccalaureate Council did not recommend your admission to the BSN program at this time"

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Thanks all for all the support and congrats to everyone already got accepted. I just got the denial letter today. This is pretty disappointing to me but well, maybe I'm not for nursing. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Have anyone hear any news yet? I'm feeling so depressed with this process. It's like my stats aren't good enough to get me in. I first thought my stats are good enough for me to stay optimistic, but after wandering around the forum, I find the actual stats of those who're accepted are way far above the requirements listed on UT website (

PVAMU CON Prospective Summer/Fall 2013 Students
Hi y'all. I'm applying to fall 2013 as well. But it's a bit confusing me about the admission process. So am I supposed to send my transcript to the main campus and CON too? And if so, I can do that at the same time or send in the one for main campus first, wait till I got accepted, and then CON? Thanks in advance

Just took HESI A2
There wasn't a lot, but you still need a good knowledge about conversion. Like I already said on previous posts, Evolve Study Guide is perfect method to prepare for math.

Prairie View A&M Nursing Applicants Spring 2013
Hi all, I'm going to apply to PVAM for fall 2013. And it is confusing me quite much on how the application process works. What is clinical studies upper division? Do I have to do anything else other than the 9 thing listed on admission acceptance? For example like all the immunization and CPR, etc... Thanks in advance

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
I took hesi a2 version 2. But I guess it's hard to say because I have heard some different opinions. As for mine, the two versions were about 70 to 80 percents different. A&P, Vocabulary, Grammar, and Math sections were completely different (Well, I shouldn't say math was completely different. They do have different questions, but just similar type of problem). I think I saw one or two essays in the 2nd version that I had encountered in 1st version. Critical Thinking was the part I found most similar. I'm not sure how much, but I think at least 6 or 7 questions were in the first version.

Does anyone have the same problem like mine? Everything is supposed to be received but HESI scores and my transcript are still on to-do-list. I have been trying to contact UT to check again but seem like no one is in the office, and I never receive any response yet. I know it's too late to do anything but this is just so worrying

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
The lady I talked to told me HESI scores on to do list may even never be removed even though the school already received it (for some reasons I don't know). I'm going to call them back tomorrow to see why my transcript is still on to do list but TSI proof has been removed (TSI proof is included in the transcript so it's kinda weird if they entered my TSI proof and missed my transcript). This is worrying me so much because deadline is so close. If they, for some reason, lost my transcript, I don't know if I would be able to request another one on time.

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Hi all, I just retook my HESI today, boosting up my vocabulary score from 74 to 90, but my A&P score goes down a little bit to 80, which is still ok though. I talked to one of the woman at UT register office today and HESI scores surely are sent to the school very quick (as I was told at the prometric testing center), so I think everyone shouldn't be afraid about the time if you're taking hesi last minute like me (but I would rather allow about a week just to make sure everything has decent amount of time to go through). And about transcript, I highly recommend everyone to double check. I thought my school had sent my transcript electronically to the school already as I had requested (My school is on the list of UT's support and my school does have UT in their own list too but I have no idea why it ended up UT did not receive my transcript). Anyway, just want to share some information with everyone, and hope y'all will do well!

You're right about the submitting time. I didn't take the test at UT but I registered to have the test sent straight to UT. Would you think you can pay to have the test score sent to the school quicker? I mean I don't know but I guess maybe we can. And yes, it would be a little bit rush to prepare. I debated about whether to retake it too, but this kinda depends on yourself. I'm taking the risk.

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
About 75% recommended on each section. I first called the admission office and the lady told me to retake the test (I had everything above 85% with an overall 88.4%, except for my vocabulary which is 74% (#&^#@&*^#*) ). So I just wanted to make sure, I emailed them again stating all my scores and how little my vocabulary score is off from the "recommended." A person named JoAnn replied back told me that I could apply but my HESI score "will not help your admission status." So I guess I should retake it. About how long does it take to submit the score, I wouldn't worried about that because I asked the lady at the testing center and she said the latest for the score to be submitted to the school should be by midnight of the day after the test day (unless the school only take in HESI score on the last day of the month then it would be bad). I'm retaking mine on the 8th. Hope everyone will do well on their application.

I have the same question like you smpieper. I want to retake the test too. SO frustrating when I'm one point away from the 75 requirement in vocabulary.

No problem. I'm glad I could help :)

I think you shouldn't worry about math because it is very basic. As long as you can handle problems on the study guide, I am sure you will be fine. Just read the questions carefully. The question I missed was because of my careless. I found out about it during the test but too late because once you submit the answer, you can't go back

Oh and about time, they give you plenty of time. I took my time and still didn't have to rush to finish the exam

I would say the evolve study guide very worths reading. Math, reading, and grammar are all in the book, especially math. Grammar is pretty basic. As far as vocabulary, I recommend read everything on the book. That will not be enough because only about 8 or 9 words came from the book, but at least you can expect to get some points for sure. Other words are just random. They were not latin deravatives so studying suffix and preffix didn't help, and they are not daily used words either. I personally think vocabulary is the toughest as it is usually my weakpoint (english is my second language). Like I said, you should make sure study everything on the book. The same thing for anatomy and physiology, random but good thing is the topic is not so broad as vocabulary part. As far as critical thinking, it is just common sense. You may want to study the book everyone has recommended "fundamental..." it will give you the basic of what a nurse should focus on in various situations. I did not study the book but I read through one or two pages and found it quite similar to what was asked in the test. Basic knowledge about how the body works (which part is more critical than the other one, and what are vital signs nurse should notice ) would be helpful. Overall, the result of my test reflects accurately my effort for each part. I made 96 on math, 92 on both grammar and reading, 88 on a&p, 74 on vocabulary, and 800 on ct, average 88.4. I kinda feel frustrated about vocabular though, because it was just hit or miss

Just thought I should give back some contribution to the site as I have been searching and questioning a lot on this site. I just took the test as a requirement for UTHSC BSN program. I did not have to take Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. I will be glad to answer questions regarding the test.

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Thanks carlajeanx3! I just took the test this morning. I don't know what to say but it's all true as everyone has commenting. Math, Reading, and Grammar was easy for me. I did horrible on Vocabulary (something I expected since the test content on this one is so random. I don't know about my chance of getting in with this low score on Vocab). A&P was ok. Critical Thinking was just basically what you think what is necessary to do. I did not prepare much for CT. Here are my stats: GPA: 3.93 HESI score: Math: 96, Reading and Grammar both 92, A&P: 88, Vocab: 74, and Critical Thinking 800 I tried to look up again at the requirement on HESI score but apparently the school has removed the page from their website.

My HESI exam is next week. I heard we don't have to take all the sections of the exam (like physics, chemistry, etc.) but how do we choose which section to take? Like do I have to tell the proctor which section I need to take or I just skipped those sections that aren't required? Thank you
