  1. Hello everyone, Well I recently finished my BSN and applied to the online FNP program at Chamberlain. I have heard many pros and cons of this program, but overall I have definitely heard more positive things about it. Anyways, looks like I may be starting this October or January, and I am wanting to see if anyone from CA is in the program and/or has graduated and able to sit for the boards. I believe that as long as the school has accreditation you can sit for the boards in CA, but I may be wrong. I also wanted to start networking to see if there is anyone starting around the same time! Thank you!
  2. Just got a call!!! I was accepted!! Woooohooo!!!!
  3. Looks like I'm on the wait list :-) Guess that's better than nothing!
  4. Congrats!!! That's so awesome!! You deserve it! I sure hope I hear something soon :-)
  5. I left another message for the nursing department. They're probably so annoyed with me by now. I need to know because of work, I'd need to change my schedule. Anywho! I'll let you know what they say! Admissions never really gives me much of an answer, so I decided to go with calling the nursing department directly :-)
  6. Me too!!! Good to know I'm not the only one! How was your interview?? Mine seemed so basic, and my written statement was awful I'm sure. I didn't know what to write!! We should know by next week!!!
  7. I think GPA plays a part in it, but I'm not 100% sure :-( Sorry I can't give you a for sure answer on that! They just wanted my transcripts, didn't say if gpa was part of the selection process
  8. It's such a long wait! Everything I call they say one more week. It's nerve wracking! Hopefully we get admitted :-) Itd be nice to be classmates! I wonder what takes so long?
  9. No I haven't :-( Have you? They said it'd be the first week of April. And I interviewed in February! Ah!
  10. Hi Diana! I'm thinking the interview is mandatory for admissions. When I called this Friday, they said they're still reviewing applicants. So that's good news for you! You may still get called for an interview. I applied to spring and the deferred me to summer. They may do the same to you :) If you applied towards the deadline they may have already been flooded with applicants, then they'll just move ya to the next semester. Either way, congrats on applying! I hope you get an interview! Feel free to ask me any questions about the interview :-)
  11. Well it's the second week, has anyone heard anything? I know application deadline was Friday the 1st, but I'm just wondering if anyone has spoken to admissions or been accepted?
  12. Good luck in getting in! With your drive you will get into a program before you know it :-) My situation was a little different because I applied to spring and the differed me to summer. But I'm wondering if maybe the application pool is smaller for summer? If your app said is pending maybe they'll all you soon! And congrats on the job btw! HH will be great experience for you. May I ask how you looked up your application status? I didn't know we could do that. I'll be sending good thoughts your way for an interview!
  13. JeLi- I do have work experience, almost a year. But my interview was so short! And you don't need experience I think. I think they take new grad LVNs as much as seasoned ones. I'm sure it'll be way more competitive in the fall, hopefully we won't have to worry about it! I left them a message today trying to follow up. No return call. Let me know if you hear anything :)
  14. It's 7 semseters. And it goes thru summer so about 2.5 years :-)
  15. Btw, do you know what happens if we don't get admitted? Do we get to reapply? Thanks!
  16. @JeLi, mine was short too! I wasn't sure what to write. I think I repeated myself twice in the 3 sentences I wrote! OMG, maybe you interviewed after me.....my interview was really short! Probably only 10 minutes? With generic questions. I'm so anxious now! Maybe we will be classmates :) I heard that about classes I guess I was just double checking :-) I'm hoping I was qualified enough. Only trade school but a good gpa. @dianakim, go for it! I applied late for spring, they just rolled my application over to summer. You may make it in! Never know unless you try :-) Interview was SO generic. Why holy names, where do you work, where do you want to be in the future etc. basically like a job interview. Hope that helps!
  17. Hello all :-) I had a few questions regarding HNUs LVN/BSN program in Oakland. I interviewed this last Wednesday for the summer semester. I know it'll take a few weeks to hear back, but I wanted to know if anyone else interviewed for Summer 2013? If so, did you interview? How'd it go? Do you know when we will be notified of acceptance? Also, anyone in the program or graduated in December want to leave any input/advice? I'm planning on commuting( I know crazy) from the sacramento area. I'm wondering how often you have to go to class? A counselor told me I can try to modify my schedule to avoid multiple trips. Not sure how true that was! I'm commuting because programs here are limited, and I was screwed by TCN/ISU. I don't want to go the Carrington route because I'd like to have my BSN. Anywho! I'm rambling, so I apologize for all the questions. Thanks everyone! Have a good work/school week :-)
  18. I'm in the same boat as you!! I allows them as well, basically it's just a letter to be sent to a particular address. You don't need to wait for their paperwork to do it. You can PM me for the address, and the contract does say they are NOT responsible for accreditation, as they are not a college/university. I'm not sure how others got their money back, but I hope it's the same situation for others in debt with TCN!!!
  19. Where did you read this? My contract didn't say anything about a refund. And I'm sending my demand letter today. Can you share what you stated in yours?
  20. Thank you!! I hear a lot from my classmates about the fast paced environment of a SNF. I'm just making sure Im not missing out on useful experience. I am working on my LVN-BSN, then wil hopefully get my MSN. So I guess you're right about staying here while Im in school. Thank you again. I honestly took all of your responses to heart :)
  21. Thank you for your reply. I'm aware that many want to work with Kaiser, I'm just afraid I'm not getting the experience I should. I feel like the nurses at the SNFs get much more hands on experience. I guess I worry too much! I just want to make extra sure I'm doing the right thing by staying
  22. This may be a dumb question, but can you please explain what is planned for the 27th? My letter didn't say anything about it. It was very vague. Basically stated its not happening until further notice
  23. Hello all. A little background on me, I worked as a medical asistant for 7yrs prior to going to LVN school. Graduated in 2011 and was hired by Kaiser before I took my NCLEX. They hired me as a medical assistant in hopes I would transition to an LVN position. As most of you probably know, LVN jobs as well as RN jobs are few and far between in California. Knowing this, I still took the position. I mean, I couldn't turn it down! It's now 7 months later, and my job title is MA/LVN. I work in multiple departments, and am able to utilize some skills. I do some injections, wound care, HH Nebs and so on. No IV, no assessing and no phlebotomy. The RNs perform those here. MY QUESTION IS: What would some of you do in this situation? I mean, I get paid as an LVN, but most of my job descriptions falls under MA. RNs do the majority of invasive procedures. Would you get another position like at a SNF or LTC to gain more experience such as med pass and time management? Im currently working towards my RN bridge, but I don't want to attempt to transition without adequate experience. Any advise? Im looking at pushing through and hoping for the best , leaving Kaiser and getting a position at a SNF, or working 2 jobs and going to school. Sorry for therambling. But I thought it'd be best to ask some of the experts out there :)
  24. Hopefully. I guess I'll just continue with the pre-reqs outside of College Network. I see they merged our threads btw, just noticed that!! I will try my best to keep you updated :)
  25. Ooops, I just saw the statement regarding the 9/27 meeting. I guess I should have read the whole thing before replying :-( My letter didn't say that. But I'm glad you posted it. I'm not admitted either, but I'm nervous to continue pursuing it. I don't want to spend money on the testing and not have a program to follow.
