  1. Thank you for giving a very detailed information. I think we do have social workers in the ED. Do I need to be certified in PRI, etc. before I start orientation? But I would guess that they will provide that avenue for the certification. I just want to be prepared and have all the tools before I start orientation so I can keep up with the pace. Do you also recommend attending seminars about the field of case management? and if so do you know any good ones? Thanks again you've been very helpful.
  2. Hello everyone! I need some advice from all the ER case managers out there about how to be a good ER case manager. No previous experience in the ER or case management but i have experience working in the academia as a professor, nurse in a nursing home, worked for a busy doctors office, and currently working in an acute magnet hospital in a med surg/ step down unit. Can anyone please describe a typical workflow of case managers especially in the ER? What skills do you need to survive in the field?
  3. Try to answer at least 100 question a day for at least 2 months. That way you will have practice answering NCLEX type questions and at the same time you are able to review the rationale for each question. Good luck to you!!
  4. I did already please check your inbox.
  5. Hello everyone! Can anybody please discuss any info about how is it working as an RN at a med surg unit at mt sinai. You can discuss how your usual day goes, nurse patient ratio; do you have CNA's helping you out? am vs night shift, or any other info that would help a new RN be successful at that unit. New and veteran RNs are welcome. Can't wait to get this thread started! Thank you in advance for all your tips and advice!
  6. Thank you. I applied online since 2011. And then when i got the interview i was called back a few hours after to offer me the job! Im really blessed and lucky! Im an rn with a bsn as well. Where did you work for LTC in the Bronx?

  9. You are absolutely right! I live and work here in New York and im telling you that you really have to be prepared financially to be able to live and survive in the concrete jungle. For anyone whose planning to move in New York go for it! As a song goes "if you make it here, you can make it anywhere"
