  1. This is the reply when I inquired via email: Sorry for the delay in responding to your email. Our providers for the California child abuse requirement are Gannett Education titled: How Nurses Can Help Prevent Child Abuse 7 contact hrs. Quantum Units Education titled: Child Abuse and Neglect 7 contact hrs Homestead Schools, Inc. title: Child Abuse and also Domestic Violence You may complete one of the courses and receive your certificate, make a copy and mail it in with your PHN application. These providers are for our applicants who have received their BSN degree outside of California. But I already took the Zur Institute one, I'll have to see if they will accept it.
  2. Thanks proudpinay! I got mine just yesterday, because the school was only able to send it three weeks ago :) It was faster than I thought :) My other nurse friend got his, after about 6 weeks or so.
  3. Hi azirr05! I finally got my licence yesterday! It actually just took two to three weeks from the transcripts were received. Good for you, you have an employer already :)
  4. I love you proudpinay! Haha :) You're an Thanks for sharing this good news :) And thanks for helping your community of nurses, specially pinay nurses. You just made my day and injected me with hope! Bless you!
  5. I found my answer! Sharing it here in case anybody else like me wanted to knoe. I was finally able to get through and just talked to CA BRN, her name is ****** I don't have to retake the exam () but I will need to fill out a new application, provide my SSN, and provide the requirements. I asked about the concurrency issue but then she said that, as I re-submit my requirements it will be up to the evaluator... so I'm still not sure what will happen. Heard of some good and a lot of denials in the other threads. I think it's worth the try. I believe that God is good and sovereign, and by good it may also mean denial - because He knows what is best for us. :loveya: Still, it's okay to ask and pray for a favorable response and just seek His will. God bless you all my fellow nurses!
  6. I've been calling and emailing the CA BON but it's always soo busy... Maybe someone here can help or is in the same situation... I passed the NCLEX exam in 2006 but was unable to provide an SSN as I was in the Philippines then. I was able to migrate to California now and was wondering if I fall under "renewal" (but I didn't really get a license before right?) if so, do I need to take the NCLEX? 2. If yes, which must I choose from the options - "Licensure by examination"? (even if I am not a first time candidate) or "Reapply for Examination"? (even if I passed my previous exam) - Licensure by Examination If you wish to apply for RN licensure by examination and are a first-time candidate. - Reapply for Examination If you have previously taken the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) in California and did not pass. Crossing my fingers that I don't have to re-take...
  7. ! I think that's so much better than taking it again, although the issue on concurrency is now the problem (as I've read in other threads). By the way, would you know of some people who has the same case as me? Like just submitting the new application but not having to take the exam? I emailed CA BRN but they have not replied yet, I tried calling but to no avail
  8. Thanks Silverdragon102! I think that's so much better than taking it again, although the issue on concurrency is now the problem (as I've read in other threads). Some are taking steps toward taking LVN etc., then I read an article about the future job market for LVN's too looking bleak in the future? By the way, would you know of some people who has the same case as me? Like just submitting the new application but not having to take the exam?
  9. I just found out what the concurrency issue is all about... It's kind of discouraging... I'll have to check with my nursing school about this too... the thing is, my husband works here in California and working as a nurse in another state is not an option for us... hmmm...
  10. Hi Steppybay! This sounds idiotic because I am so new and just getting started to research on current events when it comes to new rules of the CA BON, one thing I know for sure is that they require an SSN before taking NCLEX... but, can you kindly enlighten me about the concurrency issue of PH graduates? Or maybe lead me to discussions about it? Thanks so much
  11. Hi Silverdragon102! I have emailed them and they said that my file was deemed abandoned due to inactivity and I will have to submit a new application and requirements together with a social security number. By that i think they mean I have to retake... Would you know of some threads of nurses with similar experience? NCLEX lapsed because they were unable to provide SSN number before? Thanks!
  12. Hi everyone! I took NCLEX (California ) last 2006 and was so surprised that I passed, it was so hard - I think I barely made it :) It was a blessing. Then it became harder to apply in California since I am from overseas (Philippines) because of the retrogression of visas. I tried to apply in New Zealand and it didn't workout as well. I had to change careers because even in my country - there was saturation of nurses already . Fast forward 2012, God causes all things to work together for good, and despite the plans that didn't work out, He blessed me with a loving husband - whom I married May this year. He happens to work in California and now I am here :loveya: I am thinking of trying again. I think I do have to re-apply and retake my NCLEX exam since it has been inactive for more than 3 years (since 2006). So I'm here to learn again, and start the whole process of applying and studying all over again - by God's grace. I hope I would pass and be able to finally practice nursing here in Cali. This time around, maybe it will be a sweeter ending :)
