Thank you for your input. And yes that's right. I'm worried that the staff will not respect me because I'm an outsider coming in to lead them. I have no doubt in my leadership capabilities, but I feel as though I'm supposed to know everything and I'm going to hate when I dont know the answer to questions.

Hi all! Recently I was asked to become the ANM at my new job. I've been an RN for 6+ years in critical care and the job is in med-surg. I don't know anything about the hospital, system, and/or the culture of the hospital so I'm a little hesitant. Anyone care to share any advice? Would you take the position?

I think it depends on the hospital and unit. The hospital I work at now requires me to work every 3rd weekend and I work 3 holidays a year. The hospital I was just offered a job at requires me to work every 3rd weekend and 3 holidays a year as well. My pay is pretty competitive and I only have 1 year of experience.

Hi! Personally I would go to the open house since it's where you really want to work. The open house should allow you to get your foot in the door and it'll be easier for employers to put your face to your name if you decide to go. I know it would kind of suck to miss the pinning ceremony though... Do you all have a graduation ceremony as well? Maybe your cohort/class can go do something fun afterward so you can be included :)
