  1. I have started my personal statement to be a child nurse but not sure what to put in it, firstly I havent got any experience yet, I have applied for volunteering at a hospital but the interview is not until october 16th and I wanted to complete it and apply before then to have a better chance of getting in. So what should I put? I know I want to be a child nurse but can't explain why. So far I have said... About my dad having viral meningitus and how a nurse made his stay better and this made me realize I wanted to do it etc I put I have a 'natural flair with children' because children do like me but can describe why... I am a home carer for my grandmother, where I help her have a secure and safe environment at home after she had a blood clot in her brain. I also put that I help her handle her medication, giving me organisational skills. I also said that I was the one who noticed that she wasn't herself, giving me analytical and diagnostic skills. I said that I loved the satisfaction of making a positive effect on her life. Talked about school and how English literature has stemmed a love for reading also put that I liked art, but don't know how this would link to being a child nurse?? Talked about babysitting and also said that I have applied for voluntary work in many hospital environments but that my interview is in october I talked about my work experience in a graphic design place and how this developed my communication skills, made me more organised and hard working and that it helped me deal with stress etc Lastly, I put that I am polite, friendly and sociable and feel I have the right attitude, personality and social skills to be a nurse. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Thank you.
  2. I am 18 and wanting to be a child nurse, but I'm not sure what it will be like to stick someone with a needle. Do you get over the fear of using a needle? I'm not scared of needles exactly, I have never fainted and I can sometimes look when I am being given one, it is just the thought of using a needle on someone else and hurting them. Maybe it's just because I have never done anything like it before!! We're you like this? So are you enjoying being a nurse/ nursing student and what would you say the pros and cons are?? Thanks, this is my first post!!
