  1. Tawnylee, what area do you live in? Try applying to all other places and another cohort? I was selected as an alternate but will have to respectfully decline because the el segundo deadline is mid January, which I feel I need to jump on in case being an alternate doesn't cut it. Nevertheless, congrats to those of you who made it!
  2. Can't. Stop. Refreshing. Student portal. Ahhhhhhh
  3. SammiN: thanks for the info! Good luck to all of us!
  4. I thought I read somewhere that emails could possibly be sent out on a Saturday, too. But SOAR will be down for maintenance beginning this Saturday at noon, so we are bound to receive notice tomorrow most likely. Just wondering why "submitted" hasn't changed to "final review" yet.
  5. I think I've prepared myself for the worse, but definitely hoping for the best right now. However, I feel this particular cohort has been cheated? If I look at the open application period date range for our cohort, it has been open for one year!!! Versus past and other cohorts only being open for a few months. It just means a lesser chance to get in, of course. ARGHHH. Oh well, keeping my fingers crossed for us all!
  6. My student portal still says "submitted"
  7. When she said we would know "by the end of the first week in November" did she mean this weekend or the end of the first full week in November- which would mean next week.
  8. tawnyalee: you can always hope for the best, but prepare for the worst =) Start thinking about other options, and get the ball rolling on that. Start studying for the teas again so you can retake it in 60 days. I am hopeful for myself but don't want to depend on it, so I've started studying again so I can apply to another cohort. Best of luck to you, I hope you make it in.
  9. I am planning on applying to the generic BSN program in El Segundo if I don't make this one. I, too, have dug my own grave by not studying much. I really didn't expect that many applicants. I read that last year they had 40 applicants, and thought that would be the same this year, I guess. I'm so peeved they extended the deadline, too! Here I was scrambling around trying to fit in the last of my prereqs in little time onto my commute and work schedule. Blah! I'm just happy I tried at least, and really hope we all get in, and that more people withdraw their applicantions =)
  10. So there are 75 applicants? On Sep. 28th, they said there were 80. I think I have 69 pr 70 points excluding essay. And they pick 5-10 students for back up after the initial 20 for the cohort, I read.
  11. The essay cannot be longer than 2 pages. Good luck! Lmk how it goes for you! Btw, they said they will contact us no later than the first week of November if we get accepted or not.
  12. SammiN: Thanks for calculating my scores for me. As for the essay, you should spend a little time thinking about why you went into nursing, and what makes you think you have what it takes to succeed in the profession. I can't think of anything else they would want us to answer that does not pertain to nursing. When the time starts on the proctored essay, you can brainstorm a little, too, as they provide scratch paper. They allow spell check but that's about it. And you're right, the science portion is a total bust. I feel like it wasn't like anything that was in the ati book, almost like a waste of money to me. The math portion was definitely easier like you mentioned.
  13. I think I saw someone ask if math was harder on the real test. I, myself, thought math was much, much easier than the practice exam. The science was a tad bit more difficult for me because for some reason, I was expecting nursing questions like: what's the flow of the heart? Questions like that. Instead, I got questions about condensation, evaporation... more like earth science type stuff. That threw me off. The generic BSN program in SD accepts 50 per cohort, 4 times a year; therefore, 200 per year. Whereas, in El Segundo (LA), they only have one cohort per year. If I have a fairly good GPA, good essay score, and seeing I did not repeat classes, I am hoping my poor TEAS score won't weigh me down so heavily but I know that's a long shot now. Does anyone know where else I can take the TEAS in the LA area? I'm gona have to go the generic route if the bridge program doesn't accept me. Let me know what you guys thought of the exam once you take it!
  14. Hi SammiN: Thanks! Yes, all my other math and science courses are As, EXCEPT one of the science ones, which was a B+ in lecture, and A- in lab. What would my GPA be?
  15. I don't understand why the filing period was extended either. I got a 66% unfortunately. I didn't realize I could start studying earlier, and that I could have taken it earlier as well. Yes, the essay portion has spell check. And I don't know how to calculate my science classes either - in one of the classes I got a B+ in lecture and A- in lab. Good luck, guys!
