  1. How's it going everyone? My name is Kurt, a registered professional nurse in the state of New Jersey. To give you more of my background, I obtained my BSN degree in Philippines back in 2012. I was struggling to get an RN license in California and I had to leave my family behind to pursue this career. Then again, I'm digressing! I'm almost in my first year of practicing professional nursing. I've always wanted to be a proactive nurse and in my chosen career. I eagerly want to be an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner someday. Focusing on my inquiry, I'd like to know if there are PH (or graduates outside the United States at least) undergrads like me who are currently in an NP program, or at least planning to take hold of that NP title in the future. It would be nice if you guys can share your knowledge about this query. Generally speaking though, what are the implications of choosing an online-based NP program? It seems that one of the toughest challenges in taking that route is the fact that I myself have to look for hospitals/clinics for my field-work affiliations or in our native terms back home in the Philippines, "DUTY". Help me out you guys! My lack of knowledge about the system is flushing my hopes down the toilet. I just want to make sure that I can be someday eligible to get in a program. Thank you! P.S. The category for this thread is merely broad. I'm sorry if I posted this under "International Nursing". Cheers, guys!

  3. What exactly is an academic calendar?
  4. If I get denied by CA-BRN, will I have a hard time applying in another state? And would it be okay if I submit one application in another state while another is ongoing in a different state?
  5. My mom's paying for all my application fees. But to save time, I guess I have to consult her about this. I just go crazy when I'm not being productive at all. This may sound a bit rhetorical, but if I do get an exam permit from Nevada, does that necessarily mean I have to drive up all the way to Vegas and take the exam there? Or can I do it in the testing sites here? Sorry. You're, by far, the person who's been clearing up my knowledge about taking the NCLEX.
  6. New York sounds good. Oh, man. Nevada tagging along with this concurrency issue? Is it okay to pass my application to different states at the same time? You know, just to save such precious time. Gosh. Are you currently working while waiting for your applications?
  7. Before graduation all of us were required to produce three sets of PRC cases. One for the Philippine NLE, another for school records, and a set for us to keep. But I'm not quite sure if my school has included copies of my clinical cases for the sake of application. If all else fails, would it be wise to apply in Nevada instead? I'm not bringing up the thought of reciprocity here. Just merely being licensed in Nevada. Or if you don't mind, give me a list of states I could easily apply in. I chose Nevada 'cause it's the closest state to home which does not require concurrency if I'm not mistaken. Thanks!
  8. I may have a problem with my PRC cases. Some are not in accordance with the time I took up the appropriate nursing major. Although I have some spare OB cases in my RLE record which I earned during my second year. Can I use those cases even if I have NOT used them for my PRC application? How exactly should I mail CA-BRN my clinical cases?
  9. Greetings! I'm a 2012 BSN graduate from the Philippines and now residing here in California. I've recently submitted all the requirements stated by CA-BRN. Upon receiving and evaluating my application, will they automatically (without any doubt) ask for copies of my clinical cases? If so, should I mail the same cases I had submitted before to PRC prior to taking the NLE in the Phils? I took the Philippine board exam and by grace, passed it. Will it be an advantage?
  10. It's been almost a year. Did you get your permit at all?
  11. My apologies for using the word "loop hole". I DENOTE such word as "having another way around" and NOT getting what I want illegally. I'd still take your advice if you give me one.
  12. Greetings! I have recently moved here in California pursuing my dreams to be a registered nurse in this state. I have completed my BSN degree back in the Philippines and by grace, passed the 2012 Nursing Licensure Exam. Two weeks ago, I submitted my NCLEX-RN application to CA BRN. I have heard about the concurrency issues which caused a lot of serious dilemmas among Phil graduates. I have yet to find out their feedback about my application. Being realistic, I know that my chances of getting the permit without taking the "additional course work" are pretty slim. Is there any loop hole to this? I haven't mailed my clinical cases yet and if they ask me to, should I send my photocopied PRC cases? I badly need replies to this matter. Is there any way I could get the permit without studying for another two years just to solve this concurrency problem? Thanks!
