  1. Got the job on the Intermediate Care Unit-cannot wait to start, but still a little nervous!!!
  2. I did get the job, start on Sept 10th. I think it is going to be amazing, but still a bit nervous!!!
  3. Thanks for the funny story. I am a new grad starting on an Intermediate Care Unit. I hope I get a preceptor with a sense of humor as you did. We are all going to make mistakes, as I am sure they did too, so being able to laugh about it with your preceptor is great. Great story!!!!
  4. I am just starting on an Intermediate Care Unit, I hope I get a preceptor that has the light-heartedness yours did. We are bound to make mistakes, and laughing makes it easier to deal with!!! Thanks for the great story!
  5. Thanks for the tips, I will definitely do that. Writing down things always helped me in school, so that is a great suggestion. I am also going to check out a bookstore for a little pocket book that may have info regarding cardiac rhythms, vents and such. Nervous, but ready for the challenge. I have heard that the training is great at this hospital, so that is a plus. I'll keep you updated and again, it's great to hear someone else started on this type of unit and SURVIVED!!!!!!
  6. Thanks for the encouragement!! I am ready to learn everything I can, but sometimes I feel like I am going to be back in school HA!!HA!! I will let you know the outcome of my 3rd interview tomorrow and I will definitely ask about how long the training is. The hospital really seems like they enjoy new grads, so that is a plus. keep you posted. Any suggestions for things I could do to at home to prepare, besides the orientation on the floor, or will that be the best way of learning, hands on things??
  7. Hi, I am a new graduate with an interview for an Intermediate Care Unit. A little scared when reading what type of patients may be on this unit. My clinical experience did not do ICU or Intermediate Care patients. Just wondering if anyone out there has any advice, whether I will be ok on this floor. Heard the hospital has an awesome training reputation. i am excited to take on this challenge, but also shaking in my boots!!!! Appreciate any suggestions.
  8. So happy for you. I passed my boards on 6/6 and am just having my 3rd interview at a hospital. Sound promising, but it has been a long and frustrating time. CONGRATULATIONS and hope you do well.
  9. Thank you much, the position is actually a 7:00 p.m.to 7:00 a.m. I never worked 3rd, but I think it will great for learning as you stated. Thanks for the input, I am hoping that I do find an awesome preceptor nurse, that will make the transition so much easier. Thanks again!!!
  10. Hi. I am a new graduate nurse, I passed the NCLEX in June and had just 3 interviews so far. The one that I am excited about is coming up on Monday Aug. 27th. This will be the 2nd interview at this particular hospital. It is for an Intermediate Care Unit. I am a little nervous about this position. I have worked in the medical field before going to nursing school. I worked as a Medical Assistant in a clinic. Granted I had my clinicals in nursing school, but I don't really know what to expect on this type of unit. I catch on very fast and I am a great learner, so I am up for this challenge, just a little apprehensive. I really want this opportunity, especially being my first nursing job. Any hints, suggestions or advice would be much appreciated-hopefully to calm my nerves a little bit.
