  1. I am going to COT in March then to NTP in Cincinnati then on to Langley as well. I plan on taking my car. My husband is going to drive down to COT with me (to help drive and spend some more time together) and then fly back. He will then come down to graduation and help me drive to Ohio (not too bad of a drive) and fly back. I think we only have 3 days in between? I could be completely wrong about that... I think it also depends on where you have to go. Then from Ohio I'll drive by myself to Langley and find a place to stay and then my husband will come and join me. If I were only going to COT I would not take my car. But, I think it will come in handy during the 9 weeks of NTP training. 9 weeks without a car is hard to imagine, especially with the high cost of public transportation (at least here in Denver) It was a battle to figure out if I would fly or drive though. See you at Langley! Are you going Med/Surg or L&D?
  2. I don't really have any answers to your questions unfortunately- but I need them as well! I'll be going to COT in March, then NTP, then also be stationed at Langely (L&D) and would love to know these answers! I am currently in contact with a Major at Langely and she loves the location. Says there is a lot to do on base and around (DC is only 3 hours away). She lives off base and says there is usually a wait list for on base housing... I'm Looking for answers too :-)
  3. I am not entirely sure. Its a max of 42 maybe? I think it depends on your job and whether or not they have people interested in filling those jobs. If you go to the Air Force website, I'm sure there is an age requirement listed
  4. That is the course I took, Kaplan, I was lucky to win it at a Student Nursing conference. I will look into the 6 week training app. That sounds amazing! Bodyrock TV is also pretty awesome, but they use stuff that you have to order, although I usually just improvise. That is exciting! We are on the bay/beach, but the water isn't nearly as warm. We are getting our scuba certification so it would have been nice to be near warmer water, but that won't keep me away! Was that one of your first choices? Do you think I could get your email and communicate with you that way instead of hogging a thread on here? If you don't feel comfortable with that, that is perfectly fine too.
  5. Darn, I was hoping you would be here and we could get together. Let me know if you need help preparing for the NCLEX... that was a butt kicker. I took a prep class which helped because I only received 75 questions, but I really thought I had failed. Push ups are awful, I'm at 24 right now, but I'm not a strong runner either... After NTP I will be stationed at Langely Virginia. What about you? I definitely need to find that books to read thread!
  6. just did another search on this website because i know this topic has been covered before- it's just a challenge to find the articles, and here is a great one. https://allnurses.com/government-mili...-a-459988.html
  7. Thanks samoansundevil! Do you know what number alternate you are?
  8. Hello AFhopeful! I will see you at COT and in Cincinnati!! That is so awesome! I'm here in Colorado, where are you?! I have been working with a trainer for almost 3 months now. Have taken 2:30 off my 1.5 mile and can meet the sit-ups and push up requirements now. But, I hope to be able to get far past those requirements! I graduated in December of 2011. I am currently working in acute geri psych hospital. What about you? Are you going OB or Med/Surg?
  9. Hi Everyone! I just found out that I received a position for OB in the Air Force. I received my assignment to go to COT in March (a long wait) then proceed to NTP since I am a new grad. I was curious if anyone had information about COT (besides what is available on the website) and about NTP. I will be at a civilian hospital for my NTP and this makes me very nervous for when I actually get to my base. I won't have experience with the military system. Is the NTP training in my specialty or all areas of nursing? Thanks so much!! Taryn
