How well are LVN's doing these days?
Excuse me for eavesdropping..new comer here. In your opinion should an older female (50 yr.old) who is having to change carreers at this late time in life...be better off at cna/hha training -phlebotomy -homodialysis---or take on an expensive risky LVN school? Wanted to work on RN pereq's but WIA says if I want their help (couple thousand dollars toward tuition) then off to a vocation school I go ASAP. If they would pay the whole tuition at LVN school (4 d college in victorville,ca.) it would be an easy choice, but they won't. I'd have to go in to debt about 25,000 or so. Afraid cna/hha is for those much, much, younger than I. What do you think? What pays more PCT or cna/hha by the way? How well are LVN's doing these days? If I go this route I will surely not go for the RN as I'm just too damn old and will have to work lots of O.T. to survive on plus pay back school tuition! Thankyou!

I am so confused. Which school is accredited?
pippa help! Where did u go? You asked everything I need to know!! I am 50 however and have to make a decision within a couple of days. What other forum? I'm new at this and afraid I'll lose you, please someone respond. I'm looking at 4 d college because though I am working on pereq.s at present...don't have 3 more years without a job. Unemployment running out and can't find work in past field.(CA. BUDGET CUTS) If nothing else...what is the general attitude about a 50 year old cna/hha student working her way through RN pereq.s this way? That is my only other option if I don't go to a LVN program? Can I even survive on that pay? Is it true it is only 10-12.00 hour if that?!Will I be made fun of by the HIGH SCHOOL GRADS IN THE CLASS?!!!I need help.

Four-D College lvn program inquiry
4 d college lvn program inquiry Looking for advice. I'm a 50 yr. old displaced worker (thanks to ca. budget cuts) that has recently come to realize that I must give up working on RN pereq.s and attend a vocational school. WIA has agreed to support me but only for a couple thousand dollars max. and of course we all know LVN programs are 28,000-30,000 at this time from what I've researched. WIA says ok but I have to pay the difference. The other option is cna/hha cert. that will leave me at making little more than min. wage it looks like. Does anyone actually know current pay scales for cna/hha or LVN's. Mostly...Why can't I find any current reviews from 4 D college grads? All the posts I've found are 3-4 yrs. old. Any advice on this school? ALSO, please tell me if you know if lvn's will still be utilized the next 20 yrs. or so. Is 4 D college really a feasable means to employment as a LVN? I won't mind not working in a hospital as long as I can eventually make up to 25.00-30.00an hour I suppose. Is that possible? Sorry about this font, it won't let me reduce it back to normal size. Again...what do you know about this school in victorville? Do some students have to repeat the program to where they actually spend as much time there as they would've completing pereq.s at VVC? Thanks alot!

FOUR D COLLEGE,,,HELP
I too am trying to fina ANYTHING RECENT about 4 D college (victorville campus) I've only seen bad but all from a few years ago, nothing on here from 2012 and I can't get this thing to let me post. I wrote about 3 paragraphs a min. ago and it deleted before I could submit. Now it only lets me respond! Did you end up going? I am very sad that I am forced with this decision as I have begun working on my pereq.s for RN but realize I must quit. I am 50 yrs. old and having to learn a new trade due to calif. budget cuts. WIA will support me in a vocation program but only a few thousand dollars toward training..the rest would come from me. I heard 4 D keeps all the Pell and eats it all up so that you won't have anything left for a bridge program later (RN) anyways. Either this or cna/hha training that will leave me making just above min. wage from what i've read. Is this true? Anyone out there know true pay scales for cna/hha and lvn's? Will LVN jobs be around for the next 20 years (About how long I have left on this earth to work....I hope.) Thanks alot, from Victorville The job I was laid off from was as a as a correction officer at a private prison( that was shut down due to calif. contract cancellation) paid me 17.00 hrly and that was hard to get by on, afraid cna will just be impossibe. Does anyone in their 50's actually become cna's anyway? Isnt that for the very young high school grads? Won't I be ridiculed? Even employable at all in that capacity? ALSO,anyone know if EDD will extend unemployment benefits in some cases still? I know about the cut backs recently but am hoping that in some situations they may still help? Hard to commit to training and debt without knowing if you can finish! Thanks alot for any input at all.
