Love to Teach - Masters?
I just finished my Master's in Nursing Education. First, you'll need to complete your BSN (unless you are doing some kind of bridge program). I got my BSN from Indiana University (IU) and my MSN from Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU). The MSN was online with a teaching clinical you must complete at a local university and online. I taught Community Health at IWU and an online Nursing Research class (again at IWU). You will also complete a thesis. I immediately found an adjunct position at a local 2-year college. I also have a job at a pharma company as a research nurse. The MSN curriculum was tough and very time consuming but I completed on time in 22 months. As always, make sure your school is properly accredited (CCNE for MSN and NLN for BSN). Accreditation means everything. Good luck.
- Any advice on which path to take, IPN or self-report and go from there?

6-Year Plan!?!
It took me about 6-7 to finish my BSN. I was a single mom at the time so I took my prerequisites over the course of 4 years then full-time clinicals/diadactic for 18 months. Hard but awesome. Now at 44 I just finished my MSN. You can do it!!

ADN's being pushed out
I completed my BSN with a 10 year old (I was single). I finished my MSN while pregnant with my last son and working full-time. If people really want the education, they will find a way. Yes, all those classes DO make you a better nurse.... better communicator, a better writer, a critical thinker, etc. You may have the same job but BSNs/MSNs will always make a better living and have more options in their futures.

ADN's being pushed out
Explain to me how more education (4 years vs 2) does NOT make you a better nurse?? How, exactly is an ADN better prepared than a BSN? That is nonsense. And guess who else thinks so?? Magnet and most other hospitals, pharma and research companies, universities, etc. If you are fine with an ADN that's great, but don't try to belittle those whose took the incentive for a more well-rounded education. Or in my case, a MSN.
