  1. Maybe Hospice? Hospice was what I originally wanted to do. I have no desire to work in a hospital. I didn't enjoy it in clinicals at all. I think I should get certified in wound care maybe. I am at a loss... this is my 4th career and if I bridge over to RN I would be 56 when I finished. NOT in love with the idea of more school. Dang... this is disappointing to say the least. But once again, I do so appreciate your honesty. If you think of anything please let me know! Thanks!
  2. Well even though it isn't the news I had hoped for, I appreciate your candidness. Are there any positions or companies, areas of focus I can look into? I have two years home health private care experience... MS, MD, Dementia, Lewy Body Dementia, Frontal Temporal Lobe Dementia, COPD, CHF, End stage cancer. Right now I m a clinical office coordinator (1 year) for a home health provider service for TBI and TSI. your thoughts?
  3. Hi Everyone! I am wanting to fulfill a dream of living in St Augustine. Does anyone know of a good home health provider to apply with in the St Augustine area? Does anyone work with a provider that they feel is head and shoulders above the rest? A good employer and good to their staff? Any experiences with a provider that you would feel the need to share? I have Hospice (private duty), wound care, TSI experience. But only 3 years total. Thanking you in advance!
  4. Look at Emory at Atlanta...they have a wound care course. One is for RN's and up but the other is a 3 day course which gives you the material you need to pass the exam. Good Luck! I am going to take it. It's $1000.
  5. Hi, I am a new LPN with great expectations of working in the Hospice field. I joined HPNA and am ordering the study guide for the certification exam. I tried the practice exams for both RN and LPN and passed both of them. My question is that the web site suggested two years to Hospice work before attempting the exam but if I receive the study guide and feel I can pass it, do you feel I should still wait? Psychology, mental health, critical thinking and showing patients that they are not a number but a human being that deserves honest caring and love has been my forte'. I honestly care about how patients feel and have deep concern for their wellbeing and comfort. I just have a problem with feeling like I need to wait to take the exam. Can someone shed any light on this for me?
  6. Curious to know. I just became an LPN and was on the certification website to order my study material. I took the RN and LPN practice exams for certification and passed both of them. It advised to wait a year or two before taking the exam to get experience for the exam questions. I am wondering if I should wait that long. If I know I can pass the exam...why wait? I love psychology and excelled in dealing with patients and families during clinicals. It could help that the past 20 years I have been a manager in finance and furiniture and have had long term customers that have had terminal diseases. What is your opinion?
