  1. I just took the APA for the 2026 August cohort. Unfortunately, they don't allow students to test out of Pharmacology anymore. As for the APA, I passed. The test itself comprised of different elements: multiple choice, dosage calculations, select all that apply (a lot of them), but the ones that caught me off guard were the case studies. For example, they give you a scenario, and you pick the first set of answers based on what's presented. Then the scenario keeps progressing into more questions that need answering. I think I had 3 case studies that were between 5-7 questions each. The proctor was super strict too, you can't look away from you computer screen LOL. But yeah, its doable. I recommend practicing HESI format, as that is how the APA is formatted. As for the school... A lot of my coworkers went to ICHS (working as RNs in California now), from during COVID up until now. And every single one of them said they can't recommend the ADN program as it was the most stressful schooling they had ever done. But, for LVNs that need to work to make a living, it worked with their schedule...which is why I chose to go here. Plus, a lot of their curriculum is tailored to CA BRN's requirements.
  2. It's about time. It took nearly a year from the time I graduated up until now to get approved. I took my NCLEX and passed a while ago, but was discouraged when I heard about the background check process. Yeah, I had a past, but that was over 8 years ago. I'm just happy that after all the letters of recommendation from my school and following the background check guidelines (which is extremely extensive in California), I am now able to work as a nurse.
