Congrats to everyone who got in!!! Unfortunately, I decided to turn down my position and accept at another university. Hopefully someone else will be getting good news soon!

    Just got a voicemail!

Hey, I just received an invitation for an interview! Not sure how many people she's invited so far, but keep your head up! There were four dates available from March 8th-18th and I chose the 18th.
  4. I'm in the same situation! I've already paid a deposit to Jefferson, but am really debating between Emory and Columbia. I would love to go to either school but it's going to come down to cost for me... I just wish Emory would provide financial aid awards before the deposit is due!
  5. I was accepted, but unfortunately have decided to decline. I just emailed admissions today-hope someone on the waitlist gets some good news soon!
  6. Hi- I went to the accepted students day... There were about 45 students there, ranging from early twenties to 40's ? maybe? Mostly women and about 5-7 men. There was a current students panel Q & A as well as a tour of the school of nursing. I'd say it was mostly helpful just to visit because I'm from CA and have never been to Atlanta before. Overall, the faculty and students made it seem like they genuinely want you to succeed and it didn't seem cutthroat or competitive among the students. Despite the school saying you can't work during the absn program, the current students said it was possible and some even have federal work study which allows them to conveniently work on campus. The school said they would try to place you within the school of nursing as well if awarded work study. The students suggested not working during the first summer quarter because it it so front loaded with course work, and to just adjust to the demands of the program. After that, many people work about 10 hrs/ week and a lot babysit. Also, it seems like there is room for maintaining a social life which is quite different from what I hear about other programs. Emory is somewhat isolated on a hill so having a car is a must! Public transportation isn't as convenient, so if you are considering living off campus try to plan by living near a bus line or anticipating a 15-40 min commute by car because Atlanta traffic is pretty bad (a few mile drive can turn into a 30-40 minute trip)I really enjoyed Atlanta and although it's a big city, there are distinct neighborhoods that make it feel like smaller communities. There's also a great food scene and good choice of breweries and imported beers :) So for those from CA, don't fear! There's some great markets and a variety of cuisines - unfortunately, you may have taqueria withdrawals...Overall, I really liked Emory and ATL. Emory is one of my top choices because of the opportunities available for community and global health, and I like how the program seems more manageable and balanced I regards to school work and personal time.Hope this helps a little!
  7. I'm in for fnp!!!!
  8. Hey-For those who are worried about not being able to attend... I'll be going to the Admitted students day and will give you a run down of the event. I'll try to post over the weekend.
  9. The program is five semesters though, so around 60k for out of state tuition
  10. Hey I found the "Admitted Students" link. Go to Emory's nursing website, and click on the "Admission" tab. The Admitted Student's link will be on the lower left side. Use your OPUS log in to access it. Cheers!
  11. I'm in!!! For those wait listed, stay positive! - I'm likely going to decline because I've been accepted into an entry Master's program
  12. I applied! That's a 1 out of 10 chance!
  13. Did anyone apply for the scholarship or fellowship?
  14. Congrats to those who got in!!! @marmaduke: in past years, the deadline for the deposit was March 1st and the ABSN program requires 756 hours. Not sure when the orientation is, but the program starts in May.
  15. Hey meep05- If you still need the Dev. Psych course, I took mine at a CC in California. Not sure where you live, but the resident rate is $46/unit and nonresident rate is $190/unit (3 units) plus enrollment fees. It's an online course that only lasts 8 weeks, from 03/25-05/22. Since Emory starts in May, you might want to check if they'll accept it. It's easy too with just some required discussions and online tests. Look up Allan Hancock College, PSY 118. Good luck!
  16. Emory is my top choice, but I'm still waiting on a few other programs and will have to see what kind of financial aid offers i get... good ones I hope! - So I don't know for certain that the accepted students date will be the 8th. I was told that over the phone, but when I asked for more details she couldn't give me any and said I will get more information in the mail. I believe last year's cohort met around the same time so it's probably a good bet. @kelseynelle: no change on OPUS for me either!
  17. Congrats lindsay999 and meeep05! I got my call this morning! So excited!!! Are you planning on making it to the accepted students day (Feb 8th)?
  18. Thank you FingersCross'd and Stellaire for the encouraging advice. I had my phone interview with an admissions counselor this morning, and got my email acceptance! You were right, the interview was extremely casual and overall, a great experience!
  19. Thank you so much for the advice! Interviews always make me nervous, but I'm relieved their process seems more relaxed.
  20. Hello- I applied to the 2013 FACT program and have a phone interview coming up... Are there any current students/applicants that would be willing to share some advice or let me know what to expect? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  21. No interview for me either. Congratulations to those that did!
  22. @bird8. Good luck with your decision and thanks for the info regarding Jefferson's program! How long did Jefferson give you to accept? I just received an interview invite =) I'm having a hard time deciding when to interview- flights are really expensive right now, but I don't want to wait too long in case the program fills up. Were they fine with you doing your interview over the phone? Thanks!
  23. Hi, I applied to the accelerated, but was offered a spot in the traditional program. My letter was dated 11/19, but didn't reach CA til 11/26. After reading that others received their letters I, too, was wondering if I missed the mark. I'm sure the holiday slowed down the mailing process, so hang in there!
  24. I received my letter yesterday! It was dated 11/19, but didn't reach CA til 11/26. I applied to the accelerated, but was offered traditional. I'm a little bummed, but being offered a spot in the traditional is a huge relief and definitely better than waiting another year to apply! Congrats to everyone for getting in!
