  1. whooo hoo!! I passed!!! took my nclex on 2/18 in CA. I got my result this morning that I passed!!! 6 days waiting makes me really nervous :icon_roll (2/20 is a furlough friday too) and I almost lost hope, but I keep hearing Susanze and silverdragon and everyone else say "do not assume anything until you get your result" so I was just hold tight and tried to do lots of house chores to get me distracted. It's hard to wait and I know how you feel, but just hang tight. Good luck!
  2. dartgirl, that's because it's furlough Friday here in CA. So 1st and 3rd friday of the month, everyone in government offices are having their temporarily layoff day for that day b/c of the budget crisis in CA. Hope that helps. Yup! It will definitely slow things down. Good luck everyone.
  3. I got accepted in Ohlone College Nursing Program in CA. Classes start Jan. 29. I'm so excited. Congrats to everyone.
  4. Thanks so much for your advice. I know nursing school is going to be tough and I hope I have prepared enough to survive it By the way, congratulation in this upcoming december graduation. :balloons: I envy all the nurses who go before me. oh and good luck on your NCLEX!!!
  5. Hi Chuck! Thanks for the 2 cents . I glad to know senior students in the program. I just recieved my nursing package yesterday in the mail and if you recalled you probably had to go through getting the cpr, background check, and health clearance before you start the program. I have a question and hope if you know you could address it for me. I need to take the CPR certificate and Ohlone requires that it lasts through dec. 2008. I signed up with heartshare for Dec. 2, 2006 class. When you finish the class, they give you a certificate that last for 2 years. If I take my class in Dec. 2, 2006, does the certicates says it will be valid until Dec 2008? or Dec. 2, 2008. I need to know because if I take my CPR class in dec. 2, 2006 and get the certificate, I want to make sure it is valid through dec 2008. If they put the date on there-- like dec. 2, 2008, that's not acceptable, in that case I have to change my class date. I called them and asked and they say that if I attended in dec. (any days) my certificate should last through dec 2008. Hope they provided me the correct info. What's your CPR certificate say? Thanks for your help.
  6. Good to know. So it seems like "good clinical experience" really counts! thanks.
  7. Yes! I realized CCSF has early clinical and class--- most start at 7AM. From where I am, I would have to wake up about 4AM or 4:30Am in the morning in order to get there in time for class and clinical. I don't know how much of traveling becomes an issue once I am in nursing school. Anyone has similar experience on this? Thanks!
  8. Hi TazziRN, I'm just curious, do you know what makes Chabot program better? I was planning on applying there as well, but since I got into Ohlone, I am no longer considering it. Also when you look at a program, do you look at the kind of courses that they must offer in order to better prepare you for NCLEX or prepare you for being a good nurse? I'm curious what other factor to look for in a program. Thanks so much for your reply. I appreciated.
  9. Hi Everyone, Has anybody attended any of these nursing program that can give me some advice? The Ohlone and CCSF program are in CA. I applied to both and got into the Ohlone nursing program still wating on CCSF. I'm so excited and can't wait to start. Any advice of current, alumni, or senior students from this program are greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
  10. Yes! it is true that if you decide not to work for them after you graduate, then you'll pay back the loan w/ 10% interest, and if you work for them then the amount is being reduced for each year as well. Thanks lizz for giving me another perspective on this. Appreciated.
  11. thank you very much! I really appreciated your comment and sorry it took me a while to reply take care
  12. Hi everybody! Can I get some input/advice/suggestion from you? So here's the deal, I applied to a nursing program this year and the school that I applied to offers a scholarship. It's called a Loan Forgiveness program and the scholarship is funded by Kaiser Permanantance to give you money to go to school, but when apply to this scholarship, you have to sign a "contract" (sort of) to work for Kaiser 3 years after you graduate. If you were me, would you apply or not? What's some pros and cons? Reason I asked becuase some people told me not to apply becuase what if the job sucks later and you have to stick w/ it for 3 years, while others say apply becuase you are guarantee a job after graduate. You input is greatly valuable. Thanks in advance.
  13. Thanks everyone! :) I hope by the time I reach to my clinical practice, I will find a some technique to makes it easier. Now that I think about it, I'm a smallest girl in my Hankido class yet I can throw a guy who's 170 pounds+ :chuckle , so there gotta be way to help patients who weight more than me. Also I'm talking a class now at my school called "Images of Nurses" and we discuss some stereotype or stigma that ppl. have about the nursing career. This one will be a good stereotype to bring up in discussion and I hope you guys allow me to share what you share with me. Thanks again,
  14. Hi everybody! Thank you much for the great advices you gave me. I was about to call the school but I just got the mail today indicating that they've already recieved my apps. :wink2: Yay! what a relief. And all of you are really awsome in taking some time to answer my question. Much love and many thanks :kiss
