Hi everyone. I just started my education at AUHS about 5 weeks ago. Each quarter is 11 weeks long. The cost of per unit is expensive and the total from the beginning without having taken your general education will add up to more than $100,000.00 but most private schools for BSN programs are about that range. They offer a discount if you personally know a nurse. If you have taken some GEs outside the school like I have then it will reduce the cost significantly. But be aware that some classes take forever to get into and time is money. My math, English and chemistry classes have expired at the time and I took a CLEP test for math and English to exempt them. I passed only my English and now I'm only have to take chemistry and math to transition into the nursing this coming fall. The staff and students are very friendly. The students in the classes ahead of me tell me to be sure to be ready for a busy schedule. They say it is challenging, but that's what I look forward to. We need to be ready to be nurses in the working field. Hospital and patients want and need competent nurses. I believe this school will be able to produce these kinds of nurses. Everyone has their own way to go about where and how they get their education. This school offers the chance to check them out before committing to join so come and check out the open house sessions. They tell you straight out that, "if your aren't ready to work hard and commit, don't apply." You have to want to work and to be ready, otherwise you're just wasting your time and money. Think hard before you make a decision and keep an open mind for AUHS. Last thing I wanted to mention is how each class in the nursing program are put into cohorts. Once you're in your own cohort, you guys become a family. I seen and spoken with some of the nursing students and they all helped each other to get through all their courses. And they all seem to have close bonds with each other. So take the time to look over the AUHS site and make an appointment to come visit the school. The admissions are friendly, fast and efficient. Go ahead and give a call or e-mail them. They will give you a response. Also check out outside information on the school like the NCLEX passing rate and such. Good luck to you future nurses, to which ever school you may attend.
