  1. I liked Dr. Mills for chemistry. Just be on time, turn your phone off, and sit near the board. You can earn ex credit by doing work on the board. I had Prof. Murdoch for both A and P's. I enjoyed her a lot. She will work with students that want to learn. Not easy, but fair and you will learn a lot. Loved Prof. Bellas for micro. I was worried before the class started and ended up loving it. He presented the info in an easy to understand way. Gives you the whole picture and tests from study guide. I started my soc 290 with a terrible instructor, he only lasted the semester. They moved me into a class taught by Julia Oglesby. I thought she did a great job of covering many different cultures and she uses some good supplemental videos. At the end of the semester everyone brings an ethnic dish and shares. Students in our class felt comfortable enough to share their personal stories. I also recommend taking the Nurs 100 class the semester you will be taking the Teas test. Gives you great prep for the math. The other stuff covered in the class will help you with first semester theory class. I liked all the Nurs 150 instructors. I Like everyone I have met in the nursing department. Good luck!
  2. Many nursing students at JJC are in their 30's - 40's. Three of us in my clinical group of 8 were in our 40's last semester. You wouldn't be out of place at all. Apply! Save money!
  3. I would apply and take the TEAS. I had a C in psych from 20 years back. I retook the class online. I don't know if it was necessary or not. I was accepted into the program on my first application and will start my second semester this fall. If BIO 240 is microbiology - I loved Prof. Bellas. Try to get into one of his classes if you are able. Prof. Murdoch was my A&P instructor and I loved her classes. Good luck.
  4. Congratulations on your acceptance. I just finished 150 semester. Over the summer I took the Physical Assessment class. It's not required but will transfer towards your BSN. I think it helped to keep my brain engaged in nursing over the summer. Just something for you to think about for next summer.
