Can't Pass Fundamentals of Nursing!!!
First, I would like to apologize for my comment about disability. I should know better I said that out of stress and anger, my twin brother has ADHD so I feel horrible for saying such an ignorant comment. Second, you guys are right I am quitting nursing school. I just didn't have what it took, and when I drop fundamentals last semester it turns out Sallie Mae and my private loans started my grace period which will be up in a couple of days. I needed 6 credits while I was in school for them to back off, so I can't afford to continue nursing school and pay back my student loans that I have from my BS degree in Biology. Thank you for all of your helpful comments I really appreciate it. I just have to really look at myself and find out what I love doing and what I'm good at and find a master's degree program to attend.

Can't Pass Fundamentals of Nursing!!!
I don't have a learning disability, I graduated from college with honors with a BS in Biology. Maybe I'm not cut out to be a nurse since I'm so stupid and have a "learning disability."

Can't Pass Fundamentals of Nursing!!!
Thank you for all your wonderful advice it really helped. In the ASN program the first week on Monday I had lecture on the nine chapters on the test. Of course I studied the material before class and after I would head to the library to study more on the topic. I study everyday to make sure I know the topic. The test was on that next Monday and after the test the new lecture would begin for the next exam. The exams are every week falling on that Monday. I had already bought the Fundamentals for Success, Test Strategies, Kaplan Nclex, and used several review books in the library. I think I over think the questions on the test. Plus I was worried about my check offs because we are only given two days to learn the skill and the lab is always booked. I know it sounds like I have a pile of excuses doesn't it?

Can't Pass Fundamentals of Nursing!!!
I have taken Basic Nursing Practicum in the Fall 2013 semester and failed the first two tests. So I decided to drop the class and enrolled in the Spring 2014 semester. I am currently in the class and have failed the first two tests again! Both tests were over nine chapters and I have a week to study each test. I have done everything to change my study habits: I record the lectures, highlight my textbook, read the powerpoints, write notes for key points, watch YouTube videos on my topic, study three hours a day in the library, and do nclex questions from books in the library. I just don't know what my problem is, I think its very hard for me to transition from a knowledge based thinker to a critical thinker. I have my third test tomorrow and if I failed it I am going to drop the class again because their is no coming back after failing three tests. My question is what should I do? Should I retake the class at my current school or enroll in another program? I have already taken and passed Health Assessment and Nutrition and am taking Hospital Measurements now. I need some advice bad, is their anyone here who is in this situation?

Sallie Mae Private Loan Question ! :(
I live in Montgomery, AL and am still researching the job market for new graduates. I decided to become a nurse because I want to help people, I am compassionate and want to say I made a difference in the world before I leave it. I realized in my last semester of school how hard it is for people the BS degrees to find jobs. I have looked at Master's degree programs around my area and they all don't interest me. I don't want a useless Master's degree that I don't know what to do with, and I don't want to leave town. My mom has been trying to tell me to become a nurse and how great a job it is since my freshmen year and I wish I had listened to her. Looks like the only way for me to become a nurse is to get an associates degree, I tried looking at BS programs, I went to South University in Montgomery and their BS program would have had me taking pre-reqs for a year and a half. The tuition was $5000 for the pre-reqs and the actual nursing program's tuition was $7200 each semester. I don't think I can afford a BS in nursing, and I capped out on my federal loans at $55,000. So I have to find a way to obtain and Associates in Nursing!

Sallie Mae Private Loan Question ! :(
Thank you for all of your quick responses and great advice. I have decided to CANCEL that Sallie Mae loan and find a private loan else where. You guys really scared me, I have heard about how hard it is for new graduates to find a job, especially ones with a Associates Degree. Also I heard about this story of a mother cosigning for her son on the news. Her 25 year old son died and the federal loan people decided to leave her alone, but the private loans she cosigned for were not! Private loan people were hounding her that they want there money. She had to come out of retirement and pay them and its was very hard on her until she started a petition for them to drop the loan. Anyway I am going to cancel the Sallie Mae private loan. ANYONE KNOW ANY GOOD STUDENT PRIVATE LOANERS??

Sallie Mae Private Loan Question ! :(
I just graduated from Alabama State University with a B.S. in Biology and decided in my last semester after I have done a lot of research to become a Registered Nurse. I will currently be taking only one prerequisite class in Troy University of Montgomery and have already turned in my application for the Associates in Nursing program at Troy University. Hopefully I will be admitted having a GPA of 3.2 and already have a BS in Biology. This is my question, I have capped out on federal student loans at $55,000 and have applied and have been approved for a private loan from Sallie Mae for $20,732. My Interest Rate is 8.500% and my APR is 8.145%. The estimated amount Sallie Mae has decided for me to pay them back in full $42,253. That is double for what I asked for, including for me to pay $25 a month during my stay in the nursing program. IS THIS NORMAL? I know I have bad credit, but I have a cosigner with great credit and this is how much I have to pay back in full?!! I only have until tomorrow at midnight to cancel, but I not sure I should. NURSING STUDENTS WITH BAD CREDIT AND A COSIGNER WITH GOOD CREDIT, DO YOUR PRIVATE LOAN COMPANIES EXPECT YOU TO PAY DOUBLE OF YOU ASKING LOAN? IS THIS NORMAL?

How to become a RN with a BS in Biology?
Thank you all for your great advice. I have a lot to think about and finally feel like I have a plan of what I want to do when I graduate! Also thanks Bloomgirl118 for your compassion. They made me feel stupid for even thinking I could get an ADN if I already attained a BS

How to become a RN with a BS in Biology?
Hi, I am a 24 year old undergraduate student in a biology major at Alabama State University. I have been in this school since 2006 and am four classes away from graduating and have finally realized that the only decent job I could see for myself was becoming a nurse. Is their a way for me to become a nurse with a bachelor's degree in biology? I called Troy University about a associate's degree in nursing and they replied by saying that they only take students who move foward not backward. I have two semesters left of financial aid until I leave ASU and I am very worried about the financial problems of trying to become a nurse. I am very nervous of trying to get another bachelor's in nursing. Can I do that? Will financial aid allow that? It took me six years to finally come close to graduate ASU even though the Biology program here is a five year program. My mom is an online student and the university she is attending hardly gives her a decent refund check. If I cannot be a nurse then I will need to find a master's program to attend but my problem is that Montgomery, Alabama has a pathetic chocie in programs and I don't want to leave town! PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HERE GIVE ME SOME KIND OF GUIDANCE!
