  1. Oh believe me, I’m prescribed many things. That’s the problem. Nothing is helping :(
  2. Feeling really, really low and honestly just need some support. I’m in TPAPN. That right there says a whole lot. Anyways, December will be two years for me if they’re counting my early start. My prescribed amount of time is 3 years, so hopefully next December. But I’m just so down lately. I have a job I had to take a leave of absence from due to severe panic attacks. I feel super alone in the panic attack department. They’re affecting my ability to even go test. I freaking lose my sh*t going anywhere, especially sitting in that waiting room. I just feel like since my panic attacks came back, I can’t work, and I just don’t know how I’ll get through this. I have a family to care for. I hate that this mental health bullsh*t I’ve been plagued with is ruining my life. This wasn’t me a month ago. Everything got so hard…
  3. Any kind of psychiatric facility. There are specific psychiatric hospitals. I do not know about LTACs but some are friendly according to what I’ve read in other posts. I was not board ordered so I am not sure about it being stuck on your license forever. I’m sorry I can’t help more with that part. In my experience, wait until you get an interview with a place before letting them know about TPAPN. Try and gauge if they like you and then tell them.
  4. Hello! Yes I did end up with a job. Have you tried psychiatric facilities?
  5. I must have misunderstood you! I thought you lived in DFW. Please private message me if you need any support or a friend to talk to. We can talk more privately about everything ?
  6. I wouldn’t mention TPAPN to anyone until you are all the way through the interview and get a gauge on how they feel about you in general. You want to get in an interview- in front of the people hiring you and make a good impression. Let them get to know you and like you and THEN tell them. They’ll be much more likely to work with you after they get to know you. I wouldn’t tell any recruiter. Your application won’t make it past them. I would only put it on an application if it *specifically* asks about restrictions. Have you applied to UHS facilities? They work with TPAPN. Even then I’d wait until the interview is almost over before telling them. I hope that helps!
  7. Have you found anything in DFW yet?
  8. I know this is an old thread- but Lindsay did you end up getting a job for UHS? I’m praying they’ll hire me!
  9. I'm having the same problem! Except I keep getting turned down because of TPAPN. I pray someone on here with a job in TPAPN in DFW tells us where they work so we can work there too! LOL
  10. Hi everyone! I FINALLY got work releases signed and am allowed to start searching for jobs. I have, but with no luck so far. Is there anyone out there who is on TPAPN and working in DFW? Does anyone know of any jobs in this area that would take a TPAPN nurse? I have a 6-month narcotic restriction along with all the others (not working for more than 12 hours, no more than 94 hours in two weeks, etc. etc.) My husband was furloughed and as you can see I have no job either so I'm getting desperate. I appreciate any advice or leads!
  11. I'm going with this reply- Do NOT say a thing. If you are in recovery now and everything is good, there's no need to say anything. You WILL end up in a monitoring program and it's going to cost a lot of time, money, energy, and cause a lot of unnecessary anxiety.
  12. I had a very similar thing happen to me. I got a letter from the BON exactly one month later. Had a lawyer paid and ready to go. She fought my case for 9 months and it was just closed completely in October. DEFINITELY get a lawyer ASAP. DO NOT speak with your employer any further. When it happened to me, I was suspended for about 14 days while testing was done (don't know why it took so long), then fired for the positive.
  13. Hey! I'm sorry you're also going through this. Even I am worried they'll make me go back to treatment and I just went not long ago! I'd love to chat privately because I am a bit anxious about this being public as it is! I can definitely share with you my experience to lessen your anxiety a bit. I have no idea how to message on here but please message me if you can or tell me how! Plus, it'll be nice to talk with someone who is near the same timeline as me.
  14. Well, that’s what I was wondering. Apparently, when I sign the contract with TPAPN it’s expected that I tell my current employer at the minimum. Which sucks because I’m not even going back to that job. I’m on a medical leave there currently for treatment. BUT, the psychologist for the evaluation said they can contact my employer as well which I don’t understand and isn’t being explained well. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. In the future, I’m just worried about TPAPN in general and even getting a job at all. Basically, I’m just full of anxiety ?
  15. Hello. As you can see by my title, I am about to be enrolled in TPAPN. I recently went through a terrible evaluation for mental health and substance abuse. I need advice. I’m currently on a leave of absence with my job through all of this because I went to treatment on my own. I’ve heard TPAPN will require me to tell me job. I haven’t signed a contract yet. I was also told by the evaluator that they would contact my boss as well. My question is- do I ride this out and wait until I’m forced to tell my job? Once that happens I of course will lose my medical benefits and my disability paycheck because I’m certain I will be fired. I highly doubt my current job will work with TPAPN... I’m attending IOP while on leave and would love to continue it because it’s really helping me. I’m just really scared and wondering if anyone has any advice at all for the current stage I’m in with this evaluator? The evaluator is asking me to sign a release to contact everyone you can possibly think of (doctors, treatment center, IOP, etc.) and I’m not comfortable with any of this. Just really scared and would love support/advice/anything at all. Thank you!
  16. Will we get a list of the exact books we need at orientation? If so then maybe I'd leave that day without purchasing the package. I'm so scared to not purchase the "new" package because of any lab materials we would need that may not be available used, and also all the codes and books etc. Seems like buying all the codes (not knowing at first what you need) would add up quickly anyways.
  17. For those who have already gone through a semester- Are we allowed to buy our books used, or some ebooks some text, etc? I really don't want to buy the whole big package... But then again, I do because I want to have everything!
  18. Hello everyone! Just a reminder that an El Centro Nursing Fall 2015 has been set up (since different schools will have different things going on), the link is below. If you cannot join for some reason, let me know! Congrats to everyone again! https://www.facebook.com/groups/481370605345054/
  19. Hey everyone! I created a group for El Centro nursing students on Facebook :) the link is below or you can search El Centro Fall 2015 Students https://m.facebook.com/groups/481370605345054?ref=bookmark
  20. I GOT IN El Centro 27 points! My letter didn't say what the cutoff was. I'd like to have a Facebook page set up for El Centro! Not home right now but if anyone makes one please add me!! My email is [email protected]
  21. Sorry typing on my phone! Yall know what I mean haha
  22. Sorry I meant no mail YET! It'll come today but don't know when! I'll let yall know what th cutoff was when I get my denial letter 😩no applied for el Centro first Northlake second...
  23. Still no mail today! I'm freaking out! And nervous and jealous and ahhhhh!!!
  24. Hi ladies! I applied with 27 pts. Last year the cutoff was 27 pts with a cumulative HESI score of 430. I didn't get my letter today and it's killing me. Congrats to those who got in and to those who didn't: keep trying! I applied to El Centro last semester and like someone above said, they messed up my app and didn't include all my classes for the full pts. I had a higher HESI score than the cutoff person and would've made it in but the dean said sorry there's nothing she could do and to apply again. I'm praying so hard I'm still above the cutoff and everything was counted. I'll be crying for days if I get another denial letter.
