What can I do now? I technically wasted 9 years of my life searching for the perfect specialty and hoping to enjoy my career. I literally feel sick to my stomach and sad when I have to go to work. I have worked in worked in many specialties (from Medical Surgical to Public Health) and nothing changes how I feel towards the nursing profession.

They called on 3/27...

Not yet, but they called me to let me know that I was moving forward in the application process. I am just waiting for them to schedule an interview. I hope I get the position!

Please read this essay and give me some opinions... Thanks! FNPtoB Many years ago, I set the goal to pursue my education, but did not have a direction. I tried to study many things from dentist technician to a chef. None of the professions filled my soul. I was lost and spent a few years looking for that special connection. One day a friend told me of a twelve-week Certified Nurse Assistant program. I began the program and from day one, I fell in love with nursing. It was magical and satisfying working with the patients and helping in their recovery. I graduated and became a certified nurse assistant. Once the program ended, I knew I wanted to further my education and become a nurse. At that time, my kids were small and I worked a full time job; it was hard, but I kept that positivism and never forgot what I felt during those twelve weeks of the program. I went through many obstacles, but my commitment and love for the profession kept me going forward and working through them. I left everything behind and moved to Puerto Rico to continue my education. It was an extreme change for my family. However, my children learned a new language, and experienced their culture. Through my undergraduate studies, I participated in health fairs, volunteer work and clinical that helped me gain more experience in the field. I loved working in every department, from surgery to pediatrics and every day was an opportunity to learn and enjoy the profession I chose. In the near future, I want to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. This program will allow me to work with diverse populations, in different scenarios and a variety of positions. This career is ever changing, challenging and it keeps me learning every day and for that reason, I chose it. My motivation to continue is my children, because I want to set the example of perseverance in their lives. I am applying to the BSN-DNP in XXXX Medical School .This program will offer me the opportunity to complete my education while I work and care for my family. I will enter the program with the eager to learn and obtain all the knowledge and skills needed to facilitate the process of putting evidence into practice to help others. The scope of practice will not change for the Nurse Practitioners, but it will give us more opportunities to assume leadership positions in practice and in research. Today, I feel so proud of what I have accomplished, because I know that every day I am a step closer to reach that terminal degree in my profession.
