The UHV second degree nursing describes on their website the criteria for getting in (TEAS scores, interview, GPA etc.). The program is very intense it becomes your life but you have to keep reminding yourself it is only a year. It is intense because it is time consuming although the class schedule does not seem too bad you spend most hours outside of class studying/completing paperwork or other assignments. It is also intense because each test covers about 30-38 chapters so yes the studying and trying to retain that much information is difficult. There are quite a few students with kids and families that are doing just fine grade wise. Anyone in this program needs a lot of support from friends or family. You pretty much teach yourself mostly by reading and going through the power points. You have to be ready for this program to become your life but that is the decision you make when you earn a bachelor's of nursing in a year.

Only my user number works too which took me a while to figure out. Do you guys have the menengitis vaccine on your to do list. It says the due date isn't until January so I am guessing that is something we don't need to do until after we find out if we have been accepted. Or have you done it already?

Yea it was weird registering I had the same problems, I was able to make an appointment but I don't know if they will let me actually get the fingerprints done since I don't have a fast pass. My appointment is tommorow so I will see. In the first e-mail I got it said something is attached for the background check but I did not see an attachment for it.

Thank you for the answers to my questions and extra advice and tips :) still feel like it will be a long time before I can hopefully get to the point you all are at but you guys helped reassure me that U of H will be a fine school to go to and I will keep this all in mind.

I am also planning on applying for Spring 2013 and these posts have informed me a lot. But I also found out U of H BSN has a really low passing rate on the NCLEX exam compared to all the other school in Texas. How has it been after graduating from this program in finding jobs, were most graduates able to get a job as a nurse soon after graduating? Did you guys also feel prepared for the NCLEX when it came time to take it?
