Onlywithfaith, I stay in the DFW area.

UTMB Fall 2013
Mine works. And I applied to TCU and Tarleton as well as UTMB; I also applied to MSU's RT program just in case.

Tarleton Fall 2013 Nursing Applicants
Really? I put in an app to MSU, but not for nursing, for their respiratory care program. I go to TCC in the Fort Worth/Arlington area currently; how is Tarleton? I know it's a small campus, but I'm wondering about the country/cowboy vibe there...like, what is Tarleton known for, really? What do you like about going there?

TCU Fall 2013
I haven't. No confirmation or anything. I guess all we can do is wait or call if we get desperate. You'd think schools nowadays would have more communication with their applicants--guess not.

Tarleton Fall 2013 Nursing Applicants
Yay, someone else is out there! On their website it says they will send out email acceptances in "early April"...did you apply to any other schools?

UTMB Fall 2013
jenlove you have to receive the supp app before you can get your admit status. They send you the supp app after the school receives your transcripts from NursingCAS. Then they send you the supp app, you pay the fee, and they give you your own account with the school. If your app is complete, there is a green circle under the "Admissions" link of "Student Center", and a yellow triangle for incomplete. If there's a green check mark, that means you've been admitted, but the deadline isn't until Friday anyway, so I doubt we'll hear anything soon.

Tarleton Fall 2013 Nursing Applicants
Hey, guys! Just wanted to see if there's anyone out there applying to Tarleton's BSN program for fall 2013. Deadline just passed (2/1). I called to make sure they had all my materials, since there's not really any response involved with the school; didn't go without trouble, but it turned out okay in the end. So now the wait begins!

TCU Fall 2013
I've applied to TCU, it's not one of my top choices, however, considering how expensive the school is--I almost kind of regret it. But since I applied kind of spontaneously without thinking, plus spent money to take the HESI A2 (which was considerably easier than the TEAS V, seeing as how we got use a calculator and all), I decided I'm going to go through with it. I've also signed up for Transfer Day because when I was on campus to take the HESI A2, I didn't feel as if I mixed very well with the student body. I would like to find out more about the campus and what it's like. Anyone else going? I think it's Friday, 3/8, they sent me an email sometime after I applied...and when will we find out if we got in or not? April?

UTMB Fall 2013
You're very welcome tbsaka. Here's another one I got off of UTMB's website. I think they have dorms listed on there somewhere, but I'm pretty sure most of you are over the dorm phase. If I get in I would like a roommate as well, but I'll worry about that when the time comes. Ferry Road Apts | Housing | Auxiliary Enterprises | UTMB

Here's a list of apartments in the Galveston area I got off TAMU Galveston's website for those of you that are searching. They have a lot of options with good rates. And check the actual apartment website, this list is two years old, so the rates may be different. Or better yet, call. And make sure you check out apartmentratings.com as well to see if you really want to live there or not. The reviews are extremely helpful, if available: http://www.tamug.edu/reslife/docs/2011 Apartments Listing.pdf

UTMB Fall 2013
Sammyann, you'll have to have ATI send them for you. Luckily at one of the other schools I'm applying to, the secretary told me I could just send a copy of the scores--saved me twenty-six dollars! But, unfortunately, most schools want an official copy sent from ATI.

UTMB Fall 2013
Okay, this is the email I got back word-for-word: "To be responsive to the increasing number of students who wish to enter our nursing programs." Sounds like to me they didn't have a shortage, but a surplus of students who applied, and want to give them all a chance to get in. Quite the opposite of what we were all hoping, I guess. Hope this answers some questions. If someone can interpret this differently, let me know.

UTMB Fall 2013
The only thing I can think of is that they had less people apply than they expected; they extended it again for their RN-BSN program, and this is their second time doing that. Best to keep options, though, even though they're the first school on my list anyway to close their app period. I'm gonna try and email the chick I've been corresponding up there with for awhile to see why.

UTMB Fall 2013
Thank you Jesus! UTMB extended their deadline to 2/15! I was so afraid NCAS wouldn't receive my transcripts in time, AND I'd already submitted my payment...I hope this is the last time I'll have to deal with them, their business is absolutely terrible and a rip-off, I can't believe they are using their services. Someone said something about a fee for the supplemental app UTMB sends out? How much will I have to pay for that??

UTMB Fall 2013
jshanice, It is very possible. I had like three minutes left by the time I got to my last question of the reading section, I was freaking out; but I'm a fast reader and I'm able to recall certain things when I read, others may not be. So I would do as much as you possibly can. If you don't know something mark what you think is the answer (just in case you DO run out of time so you can have a chance to get it right) and come back to it; don't just sit there and waste three minutes on one question. Process of elimination. Try not to focus on the time so much, just pretend it's like the most interesting passage you've ever read and you'll do fine. I recall one passage talking about the city water system, and another talking about snow blowers, and explaining what kind of engines were in them, blah, blah, blah. They put that stuff in there so you will lose focus, but don't allow that to happen!

UTMB Fall 2013
I got an 88% on the reading section, I was so sure I was going to get 100%, so stay focused on the passages, they do get kind of boring. Don't let your mind wander! When do you take it?

UTMB Fall 2013
The math is so simple you don't even need a calculator, and that's coming from me--I suck at math! Yes, it is time-consuming, which is the point of a calculator, but I guess they want to make sure they don't take on complete idiots, you know? Luckily on the HESI A2 you can use a calculator, and I'll be taking that mid-January. jshanice11, yes, the reading was a little difficult, and I consider myself to be well-rounded in reading and English subjects. You have to pay attention to the most minute of details, I even had to write some stuff down to make sure it was the right answer. Read the question twice, just to make absolutely sure of what they're asking. I submitted my app mid-December and they've only received one of my three transcripts, and I know I sent them off in an orderly fashion, and I know they've been sent because all my other schools that I've applied to got them. I tried calling, but they're not really any help, they can't even tell you if they've been received, so I'm getting kind of nervous, too; I hope they receive them this week. jh408 you don't have to pay in order for them to receive your transcripts, just when they do, submit your payment so they can send it off, you want them to get this done as quickly as possible.

UTMB Fall 2013
jshanice11, My science score was awful compared to my other scores. Embarrassed to say it but I got like, a 52% on the science section. As far as what is mostly on there, I would say there's more bio questions; there's a handful of chem, a handful of A&P, maybe two physics question, and one geology. For the books, they are both wonderful. The Mcgraw-Hill Practice test book is really good. Do those practice tests! I would say the reading is slightly more difficult than the book, but the science is on point as far as the randomness goes. Math is the same, and grammar is the same. Just focus on the science more than anything. The ATI book is great for studying, it goes in-depth into the sections. If you do well on at least three of the sections, you should be fine with over 70%. If you have anymore questions let me know!

UTMB Fall 2013
I submitted my app to NursingCas as soon as the semester was over, and I'm pretty sure they've received my transcripts, just haven't processed them yet...ugh. Stupid form. Tessthebest, I just took the TEAS V a few days ago...the math and reading are sections are easy: simple math, as for the reading, pay attention to what they are asking, it seems pretty tricky. You're going to be mad when I say this, but there is no way to study for the science section. All the questions are completely random, and it's up in the air. Had a question that asked me what serum is made of--I have never learned that, that I can recall. So just go over what you can. For the English section, know simple grammar rules. I hope this helped.

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
I am. I know it's a shot in the dark, but I'm going to go for it anyway. I'm not sure how the Pacesetter program works, but it sounds enticing; I had signed up for the HESI at my local community college, but unfortunately they don't have the A&P section on the test! How dumb is that? So now I'll have to do it through Elsevier, even though it will probably be more expensive...
