Nurse practicing without license?
Thanks for the replies, I was actually thinking about discussing it with one of my nursing instructors to see what she thought. And with her personality she will not take it lightly. I know she will not like the fact that this substitute was actually giving students case scenarios and assessing.

Nurse practicing without license?
I am a BSN student graduating in May. While I was in my rotation at a middle school I was with two school nurses and sometimes a substitute nurse who substitutes for when one of the other nurses are gone. During that particular day the substitute nurse was giving me and another student case scenarios and asking what we would do in the situation, she was really irritating. A student came in that day and had stomach pain, but it was more up into his chest. She laid him down and proceeded to do an assesment on him and determined that he had possible appendicitis and called his parents. The other nursing student and myself did not think it was the case at all as he did not have any of the symptoms of appendicitis. Anyway I said all of that to say later in the day I asked the substitute nurse how long she had been nursing and she preceded to tell me that she hasn't had her license for years because she decided years ago to not renew because she had lost respect for the healthcare system. I am wondering why she substitutes and is this legal. I am angry that she was quizzing me and assessing students when she has not practiced nursing in years except subbing at this school.

Any advice on HESI testing?
Thank you for advice. I was thinking already about getting another kind of book besides HESI.

Any advice on HESI testing?
I graduate in May with my BSN and my school now requires students to take the HESI test. We have two chances to pass it and over half of the class did not pass it the first time. We will be taking it again in April and I have ordered the HESI book and cd to study. I also signed up for an online review course which I did and did not feel like it was helpful. My question is for those of you who have taken it, is there something else I can try or buy to help me prepare for this test that was possibly helpful for you? Thank you for any info.

running on fumes in Arkansas
Hello, I just thought I could get some feedback/encouragement. I will be graduating in May with my BSN and I feel like I am a car running on fumes that is so close to the gas station and don't know if I will make it. I am feeling so burned out by this last semester that I do not really care what my paperwork looks like or care about the lectures. I have gotten through the last two tests on luck because I have not studied for them. I don't even know where I want to work. I have my preceptors lined out for ER and L&D because these are some areas I am interested in. Several instructors have discouraged really anything that isn't med-surg. I really disliked med-surg and I know I will get more skills there, but don't want to run the risk of being somewhere I do not enjoy. What advice can anybody give me on these topics. Thanks

good hospitals to work for around the temecula valley area or close to
Hello, I havn't posted anything in a while, I have my senior year left to go, should graduate next may 06 with my BSN. I live in Arkansas and my husband currently works in Temecula Ca. He flys home once/month. He makes great money and so it would really make sense for me to move there when I graduate. I am wondering about good hospitals in that area and also if anybody knows anything about the high schools in Temecula and if they are good schools. Thank You
