I was accepted to Drexel starting Fall 2016,no co op two year fast track after graduating from ccp past dec. As far as financial aid I recieved over 37,000 in scholarship and grant money. For the year, the school has many different opportunities to receive a scholarship such ask connect with alumni where you have an alumni from Drexel right a recommendation and you recieved a 1,000 scholarship. Most of the scholarship I earned was from 3.7 Gpa transferring from CCP hope this helps!!!!

I'm currently a LPN should be starting BSN 2016 fall. It was a great decision simple fact is I get to practice as a nurse while going to school and making decent money at the same time.

I'm late but it drew my attention! When I first started out as an LPN I was 19 (same job now 21) at my facility we have the same type of dress code. I say just give it time once the family and doctors see you there doing your job they'll eventually know you're the nurse in charge regardless of the "young look" it's frustrating but non the less it happens.

Keep on trying, when you pass the feeling of achievement will be great. The book that all the LPN's I know is the Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-PN® Examination (Saunders Comprehensive Review for Nclex-Pn). The green one! Good luck!

I mean young as in under 21. It's not my behavior or performance I've had no write up, errors or anything dealing with my work ethic. I've had many compliments on my attitude as well. But thanks anyway.

My age was given out not by me lol or I would have hiden it as long as possible. But your entire statement I can relate to very much. Thank you!

I take it with a grain of salt and I have thick skin I've never let it get to me after a year and a half almost it's more annoying than anything.

I also think this is true with one of my coworkers it just depends on the person. I agree with you in the sense.

After the death, after my DON called she was like did you do this this this. I was like yes, yes, yes. All my tasks were complete. I received a thank you so I guess that's a slight appreciation. But thanks for your comment I will definitely take what you said into consideration.

Very true, I work with CNA's that have children my age or can be my grandmother literally. But I try learning from everyone.

I agree. At the end of the day I can eave knowing that I did all the work that I needed to do. And it was done at the best of my abilities.

I feel like I carry myself well, if anything I've tried my best to do my job correctly just to prove that age has nothing to do with my work ethic, I've never been late, called out once for a snow day. All of the RN's I work with are over 50 and always say they have experience which I understand and look up to because I like learning. I just get frustrated with the repeated questions like I lack knowledge. But thanks for your reply.

I've been working at my current job for over a year. Also my first nursing job after graduating from nursing school. When I was first hired as an LPN I just turned 19. I'm currently 20. My problem is when the RN's at my job treat me like a child and i'm sure it's due to my age. For example it's at the end of the month aka recap time, i'll walk into work that day and almost all the RN's there will say "when you have time do the recaps" while others will say "____ said do recaps." My thing is once I was trained on doing recaps I've done the recaps without being told because that is a part of my JOB. And when there was a death on my unit I had to call the don and complete the procedures. I followed the directions to the T. But my DON calls back 30 minutes later and asks have you done this and this and this? I feel incompetent sometimes even though I know what I am doing and I believe I've been doing my job well.

My main thing was keeping up with the homework and assignments. And not to wait till last minute (which was hard to do but procrasination gets you know where) except low grades. Study groups is a big help also! Pharm study guide ? Flash cards are great but also finding a common thing in the drugs like cephalosporins most of the drugs in that category has the word cef- so instead of learning every drug name just learn common thing so when you see like cefuroxime or cefprozil you know they belong to that catergory of drugs & also instead of learning all of the side effects just learn the common ones for that catergory. But you will in some categories of drugs have to just learn each one & know it by heart but thats a short cut. Like pysch drugs learn that a major side effect is eps you know ! but i wish you luck & hope i helped !

I heard the same thing from people and my family like why are you doing your LPN you should of went staright to RN. But at the end of the day it's you desion ! My main thing was i'm young and i wanted to get my feet wet. I got my CNA at 17 & then graduated from high school. 18 I just felt the need like i can ALWAYS go back for my RN ! In any case LPN is a easier way to become a RN because they have many bridge programs ! And you have some pre reqs thats just another foot step. It all depends on you but if you want to go for your LPN/LVN do it! Because all you can do is beneifit from it. Clinical rotations in second semester we had 4 days of school one day of clinicals. Then third term 3 days of clinicals 2 days of school. And i've been to about 4 different nursing homes (where most lpns get hired) a hospital and a charted school. Hospital was for maternity (nicu,labor & delivery, mother & baby suite). Charter school was for perdiatrics.And will be going to specialty nursing home for med/surg. Hope this helped !
