wayne state university vs oakland university accelerated BSN
i just got accepted into WSU's accelerated cd2 program. waiting to hear back from oakland as well. ive searched the forums and could not dredge up lots of information from current or past students on wayne's program. ive heard good things about oakland. just trying to get some opinions and feedback. the wayne program begins this fall and ends next fall, while the oakland cohort i would be accepted into begins next spring and would end in the winter. so oakland's program would have me in school for one more full semester. are all things equal? is oakland that much better where it would be worth my while to pick them eventhough i'll be in school longer calendar wise? i would appreciate any feedback from people with experience. basic run down of my options: 1. go to wayne state this fall 2013 and finish fall 2014, then hunt for job 2. do oakland's program which begins next spring/summer 2014 and ends winter 2015 (i could work longer before the start of the program, but then im in school an extra semester on the calendar so thats a few months im not looking for a nursing job) there is not a substantial monetary difference to warrant one program over the other either thanks

Nursing and coaching high school athletics
late admit to the program. Im interested in mental health and medical health professions. I'm drawn to both careers yes i understand the time frame that needs to be available, i was more looking to see if its reasonable that a nurse could work a 7pm-7am shift, and then coach 3-5. has anyone else tried balancing nursing and coaching

Nursing and coaching high school athletics
just wondering how realistic it would be that an RN can contribute as a high school coach. i know of one that does. any one else have experience balancing the two jobs? i have a passion for coaching HS sports. i got accepted into an MSW program and was planning on going into school social work. but I'm also finishing up my nursing school prereqs and was going to apply to some accelerated BSN programs. i know social work/nursing has been debated a lot before, so I'm not trying to reopen that topic. for professions have merit in my eyes as well as challenges. just looking for some insight. thanks!

nursing second degree progam: TEAS vs non TEAS question
im evaluating some nursing as a second degree programs and i would like some advice. the entry requirements to all the programs are very similar, except for one program. i live in the state of michigan, and the programs im looking into are university of detroit mercy, wayne state, eastern michigan, and oakland university. UD, wayne, and oakland are almost identical in the requirements i need, 4-7 science classes. eastern's program admission is different. i would only need to take 2 classes, however, they utilize ATI-TEAS scores as part of their criteria, as well as prior working experience in health care. id like some advice, assuming all things are equal, is it better to take more classes and not have to take the TEAS, or less classes and study for the TEAS. the deadlines have passed for applications, so i have basically a calendar year to get everything taken care of anyway. oakland does offer admittance in the winter and summer though (3 separate cohorts) wondering because some feedback i hear is that the TEAS is difficult if you are rusty (6 years out of college) or you only have two opportunities to take it or something like that. thanks
