  1. Hey there, Do you have a bachelors degree from city tech or somewhere else? If so apply to LIU (second degree) accelerated nursing program....its a 14 month program to get your BSN. If not, apply to their regular program. With your teas score and GPA you will get in for sure. Only drawback of this program is that its a little expensive and disorganized (make copies of everything you give to nursing admin). Be prepared to work hard ), make friends with your mates (you going to need them), if you are falling behind in class talk to professores asap, and trust me you will be fine....if you really want to be a nurse this school will provide you with the tools you need!

  3. It is too late. I already graduated from LIU nursing and passed my NCLEX. As you said it was a hard program but it helped me a lot by keeping that in mind. Thank you tho for replying to this.

That's odd. The nursing adviser told me they accept only 40-50 but your probably right they must accept more and then only few actually enroll. Wonder how this program fell like this especially since there was a time when it was a great program and had high NCLEX rates too. I heard they were making some changes let's see what happens with that.

Long Island University Accelerated Summer 2015

Congratz on the acceptance into both programs! :) LIU actually has 2 programs one is the 2 year program (which your're right, accepts almost everyone) and then there is the accelerated program (which has 40-50 seats and a slightly different requirements) although I do not think 2 year students and 15 month program students are separated. I keep hearing "easy to get in, hard to get out" when people talk about this school and it is just making me want to say "I accept the challenge" lol. As you said BSN programs in general are really hard and we are in the "accelerated" BSN program...which makes it even more harder. End of the day 1. managing your time 2. working hard 3. thinking positively..will help us all reach our goals.

Hi Aruci88 I keep thinking that no one will reply to my posts in this site. I do not know why I think that. But thank you so much for replying. What you said makes me feel alot better. I'm defiantly going to consider LIU now. I also have more questions to ask about the program. I was wondering if you mind if I private message you? -Truth

Hi Everyone. Wow,This post hits home. I am actually in the same boat NOW that you were in. I am deciding between NYU & LIU. I got acceptance into LIU nursing. I can't honestly decide if I should or shouldn't attended LIU. In one sense I do not want to risk my time and money in a school that is CLAIMED (stress of claimed) to be "disorganized"..but in other sense I feel as if I can survive LIU (or ANY nursing school) and become a great nurse. Deep down I am still scared, although I seriously do not see how a nursing program could be bad. I feel as if it is the students that are not willing to put in their energy and time to reach their goals. I really want to become a nurse but I am starting to feel like there is always hurdles after hurdles in my path to reach that goal. Please someone tell me the truth...and do not sugarcoat it. I can take it if it is the truth and it always makes me feel better & prepared. These are all just my opinion. I do not mean to hurt anyone intentionally so please forgive me if I have. -Truth

  12. Hello everyone, I just have some questions about nursing programs in general + Long Island University (Brooklyn Campus) Nursing program (BEWARE: some of the questions may sound unintelligent but bare with me please.) 1. What is the difference between going to a nursing school & getting into a nursing program? (is there any difference) 2. How long does it take to get into a nursing program for a average person? 3. Can I take ALL my BSN program nursing pre-req at city tech (the college that I am currently in) then transfer? 4. Can someone tell me what are the pre-req for LIU nursing program? (I looked into the site but they don't really give me a list) 5. Is there a entrance exam before getting into LIU nursing? 6. I wanted to stay in City tech and get into the ASN program there but I feel like I'm wasting my time and am feeling as if Im never going to get in the program. (should I be worried?) So even if LIU is expensive as long as I get into the program I am happy. I also am getting pressured to finish my nursing as early as possible because in my country kids become BSNs at age of 20 or 21. (All their pre-req are finished in 11th & 12th grade). I tried to make my family understand this but its impossible my only choice is to finish my pre-req and transfer to LIU nursing program (if possible)..I hope that is possible. My Pre-req @ city tech: Biology 101- A A&P I - B- A&P II- B+ Pschology - B Child Psychology- B+ Sociology- B+ Math 1275- B English I- B+ English II- A Microbology- Need to take this I know these scores don't look that good and there is no excuse but if there is any way to get in with these scores to LIU I would be very happy.
