I need to reschedule my orientation. Need advice

Thank you, so much. No we did not agree with any starting date. During the interview, i told her that March would be a little difficult for me to start, but she hired me anyways. I sent her an e-mail, but she hasn't replied yet. Do you think that it is better to call her (she gave two phone numbers besides her e-mail). Thanks, again.

I need to reschedule my orientation. Need advice

    Any suggestions? Thanks!!
  3. Hi, I have been offered a position in the ER of a small and lovely Hospital. The position is part-time, two nights a week. It's like my dream job. Fits perfectly with my schedule. I have another job, which I like and have a nice boss whom I highly respect. Here is the situation; I was offered the job to start orientation in a month. Orientation is full-time and in the morning. I still can do that, but three/four weeks after the proposed start day. I have previously acquired commitments with my previous job, which I cannot and do not want to avoid. I will ask the nurse manager about the possibility of delaying the start day for a month, to honor my commitments and to serve this new job 100 %. In the meantime, I can even volunteer to get acquainted with the Unit, paperwork, and personnel. I do not care about paying, I just want them to hire me a a bit later. How can I approach the nurse director? Isn't it too dangerous to ask to be hired a month later? I do not want to disservice anybody here. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

    Easton hospital

I applied to countless positions at Easton... I got one interview for ED and one rejection for PCU. That's all. The interview in ED went well, the nurses were good, and the NM very kind. I do not have any information yet, so I do not know if I got the job or not, but it was a good experience.
  5. Great comments! I am also a new graduate, RN-BSN, and will begin to volunteer in a Med-Surg, or ICU unit (no RN job, but on the floor). I had interviewed for a big hospital before, but finally not chosen. Anyway, what I want to add is that the interview for the volunteer position was very, very similar from the one I had when applied for a new graduate RN. This may be an extra advantage since it's like practice to shine in your real interview. Good luck to everybody!

No Nursing Shortage At The Present Time

Excellent posts! I am a new graduate (Dec '11), BSN, and the qualifications that many graduates have. I have applied to many jobs; hospitals, nursing homes, hospice, evening and night shift... One of these places, a hospice company, answered to my application, inviting me to take an "on-line test" . With some expectation I hit as much material on hospice I had. When the time came to take the test...they were all logic questions, like...if john is the cousin of Martha and... or estimations on productivity, or... I do not have any idea what they wanted. Of course I was never contacted again. I was also selected for an interview in a hospital after: 1- submit my CV 2- After passing this first filter, I had to submit letter of recommendations and my unofficial transcript 3- After theses were successful, I had to take two very real on-line, timed tests: Med-Surg, and Pharmacology 4- The i was invited to a panel interview, that it seemed to be not satisfactory since I was not selected. I am about to quit. People have been very supportive, and appreciative, but I cannot work indefinitely as a "job seeker". I have fortunately a nice job since nursing is my second career, but I cannot forget many students that put a lot of effort and still they are looking.

    Temple's New to Practice Program

Congratulations morningdew!!!!!! This is a big accomplishment.I have my interview on the 30th, I guess because I completed my tests at the last minute!! Anyway, I am preparing hard for this interview. I already pick my units, but most of them are terrific, so I do not care if I do not have the ones I selected. The most important for me now is to pass the interview. According to what you said, we have only one interview and you just wait to be or not to be hired?? I thought we had two interviews, one was the panel and the second with the nurse manager. I guess that it's only one interview? How many people are in the panel? Do you interview alone or with other applicants at the same time? If you can share this info, I'll be more than happy!!! Again, Congratulations!

    Temple's New to Practice Program

Congratulations! I hope you get it. I finished my tests on Saturday, and do not think they were that bad. I do not know if they are not contacting me because I took them late, or if I failed...Do you guys have any idea if I have still the chance to be invited to interviewing? I m getting a bit anxious here. I really love Temple, but I have my doubts about getting chosen now... I will really appreciate your comments.

    Temple's New to Practice Program

Hi, morningdew, How was your interview? I already took the tests, and do not think I did bad on them (especially Pharmacology). However, I was not contacted. Do you have any idea if failing or having a low score on the tests eliminates you from the hiring process? Do you know for how long they will going to interview? Thanks. If I am not contacted, I wish you the best.
