  1. Thanks everyone! From your information I decided to take the apartment in Oakland. I was really shocked by the cost of living in san francisco & the fact that most places don't offer parking. I'm also shocked there aren't more bridges I can see how that commute would get old. The place in Oakland also allows me to pocket 400$ a month from my stipend. Thanks again I start on the 14th.
  2. I am a 29 year old traveler who will be at Kaiser Oakland for 3 months, possibly longer. I'm looking for housing but having never been to this area I need some help. I have found a beautiful newly remodeled apartment in Oak center across from Lowell park. There are about 4 other remodeled homes right next to it. I don't mind being in an area that is rough but I will be alone & just don't know if this area is dangerous The plus is that it's close to work. My other option is an even more beautiful brand new in law suite in pleasant hill. GPS says the commute is about 30mins but I'm not sure if this is realistic with traffic. My hours are 7am-7:30pm, so will I be able to avoid the traffic? An hour ago I started thinking maybe I should live in San Francisco to get the full experience. Is it overrated or worth the extra $? Im considering China Basin area. I figure I will be going opposite the traffic so the commute should be ok. Thanks for your feedback
