No need to be upset at the truth! Change careers
Wow...I'm speechless too..at the fact that supposedly I am wrong in saying I care for the patients that don't get the right care because of their nurse not liking their job...not saying you can't not like your job and do your job...

No need to be upset at the truth! Change careers
I will make it....and pass my NCLEX and go on to be a APRN...and come back and comment on this same thread. And furthermore understand what your saying but there are people who do let it get in the way of patient care...you may not be one of them and I may not be a nurse. But I have been a patient and I know that I have saw nurses act in that manner and you don't get paid to act like that so they need to suck it up. And I know of many who have been nurses for 40 plus years and wouldn't treat someone any different and still say they had a bad day..that is not what I am saying..I am not talking about the ones who still give good care under stress...and everything else that comes with nursing...I am talking about the ones who don't do their job because they don't like it..just to be clear

Back to the subject of this thread : [h=1]No need to be upset at the truth! Change careers[/h] if it affects patient care..change your career when you get enough money to do so...common sense..

No need to be upset at the truth! Change careers
BrandonLPN ok.. but one thing is the person that I posted that post to...was a person who said that only Doctor's prescribe medications and diagnose which is not true because as a NP you are still a Nurse. And my mind is just blown at the fact that you can administer medication and things like that but we don't practice medicine...?

No need to be upset at the truth! Change careers
Just in case some of you did not know...the person who originally made this post made it because someone was saying they "Hate Nursing". That's not just something you throw around. And nursing is not "just a job" peoples lives are in your hands and if my family member went to a hospital and had a nurse that "hated nursing" and acted in that attitude I wouldn't want them caring for my family member. I would think most of you who actually are nurses would be offended at the fact that someone who is a nurse "hates nursing" where does that leave the patient...getting hateful care? where do they do that at? This is a DISCUSSION that's all it is...some agree some don't we are all entitle to opinions but I would think as a nurse you would care about the quality of care a patient receives...? Like I said before good luck in all you guys do I wish you well.

No need to be upset at the truth! Change careers
Yay!! If you read my post I commended the ones who actually do their job!:) but not the ones who whine like little babies because I know people personally that are nurses and are on the verge of dying that don't **** and whine so there you go.

You don't know me so what chip would I be having on my shoulder? I am a strong person and strongly opinionated. If that means I have a chip on my shoulder than so be it.If you think I have a chip on my shoulder because I feel so strongly about medicine then so be it. But please clarify how you just had to tell me I have a chip on my shoulder for what reason would that be?

No need to be upset at the truth! Change careers
Anyways I wish all of you good luck whether you enjoy your job or not but I just pray for those patients... and pray they don'[t get the crappy end of the stick because you're having a bad day...

Do you have a PASSION for nursing?
Yes. I guess basically they were trying to say that I have a passion for it only because I have not become a nurse yet. I strongly disagree because I know what I am capable of handling and I know who I am. And I feel the same way I love to help people.
-
No need to be upset at the truth! Change careers
Agreed. Not every nurse has to be passionate but don't give patients the minimal care just because your doing it "for the money". Thats all I'm saying. And I don't want to be recognized for what I do it's not the attention. It's how it makes me feel to know I helped someone and the fact that I love the subject of medicine. So in turn a lot of nurses who do it because they are passionate about it don't necessarily always want recognition.

Even though I am not a nurse and I can not tell you what you have been through. By the way I commend all you nurses who actually do your job. But I do know what I want to do and I do know personally what I CAN handle. I don't know hands on but I do know what it in tells and I am not completely clueless as to what a nurse does and what a nurse goes through. I have nurses in my family and as I stated before my MA teacher who also was a flight nurse, has given me a lot of insight as well. Only I know what I will do you can't assume because I haven't been there yet I don't know what I would do in that situation. Like I said I have been in far worse situations and I love helping people and its something that burns inside of me not just an occupation. and no you dont have to have a passion but I do and I speak for myself when I say that ...Like over and over I have said you can have a bad day ..week or whatever but when it affects the patient just because you want to have a whining session thats unacceptable...I believe but that is my opinion

actualy NURSE practictioners prescribe medications and DIAGNOSE..so..uhm still not getting what your saying...I administer medications including injections..so..anyways my point is nursing wasn't always a title for what nurses do now so why get hung up on the specific of that it wasn't always called nursing. And like I said before NURSE practitioners prescribe medications and DIAGNOSE and ...whats your point? they are not Doctors they are Nurses...medical field is anything that has to do with medicine..I don't know where you live ...maybe you guys have a different definition..

i will not understand fully until i am a nurse, and i am not on chemo but i do have alot of problems. but at the end of the day i know i will deal with it and move on. that is just who i am.i am 26 and i have 2 kids. one 20 month old and one 10 month old. my income is 490 a month and my rent is 530 plus bills. i can't find a job. i have been through a lot even before this ordeal. so yeah i would love to take someones place if they don't want their job and not just for the money but because i will be good at it. and i know that. it may be stressful sometimes but i have been through worse and smiled at the end of the day so. yeah..

I agree Nurses and MAs don't go to med school I don't know who told you that but that would be very ill informed. But being a MA and being a Nurse is still part of the Medical field. You practice medicine. I am pretty sure before Nursing had a name it was just a title that had to do with medicine to began with. You dont have to be a doctor to be in the medical field. I want to be a NP one day, I won't have to go to med school would I? NO but I will be doing a lot of things a Doctor does. Not everything but some. Plus I am a MEDICAL assistant how the heck is that not in the MEDICAL field?lol
-
Do you have a PASSION for nursing?
Definitely, I agree you sure will be able to tie that into your life somewhere so all in all it's a win win. And agree you don't have to have a passion for it. I do but that doesn't mean everyone else has to as long as the patient's get what they need and your doing your job, so what! And thank you for commenting
-
Do you have a PASSION for nursing?
I agree. And I disagree that it is MADATORY to have a passion. A lot of people don't but they do it just as well as the next person. But if they lack a care to be a nurse so badly that it affects patients, then at that time for me, it would be time for them to go. lol But yes I see what you are saying very true and thank you for commenting

No need to be upset at the truth! Change careers
Agreed. But is that an excuse for the rest of someone's life...they picked the wrong career...so did a million people on here before they considered being a nurse but they picked up and decided to do what's best for them even if it is at 40 or whatever don't make yourself miserable...

No need to be upset at the truth! Change careers
I agree. That was my point. When it is to the point of being incompetent at their work place that is where I think they need to step back and evaluate...I personally was not saying that just because someone has a bad day..or week even they should consider quitting but I do know that if they are bringing their personal business to work and taking it out on patient's in combination of them not "liking" their job, to me that is not right. If your forcing yourself to do the job to pay your bills but in return patient's are uncomfortable and your compromising lives...I absolutely do not agree with that...at all..It actually makes me angry and that is why I am on this post. Because I am tired of people(Not saying you) sugar coating things just because its their job. If you can't perform your job correctly get out of the profession there are people who really care and will smile at the end of the day regardless of what happens like me

No need to be upset at the truth! Change careers
that is my point exactly and even if you have to work in a position you don't like to get to where you would love to be.. it's all worth it.. i don't want to be a medical assistant, i'd rather be a nurse. but i did it to get my foot in the door. and i still partly love it because it is still a position in the medical field but a part of me has a burning inside yearning to be a nurse..and it kills me lol but i still wouldn't say i hate my job because i love to help people
