  1. My fiance and I have been together about 7 years. I was with him when he was rejected from med school the first time he applied, when he finally got in, and through all four years of med school. We got engaged a few months before he graduated. Now he's about halfway through his intern year in Family Medicine. It was (and still is) very tough. When he was in med school, I helped him study many late nights with flashcards, etc. This actually wound up helping me in the long run when I decided to apply for nursing school a few years later. He was under a lot of stress to pass the USMLE, and it really took a toll on our relationship. Match Day was incredibly stressful too, especially since he didn't match to his top choice. He wound up moving 700 miles away to start his residency while I finished up my last semester of nursing school. I've since graduated, passed my boards, and moved up with him. Now, his intern year has him working insane hours--there are days where I have maybe 2 hours to interact with him before he has to go to bed so he can wake up and do it all over again. It sucks, but he will be done with his intern year in July. I'm told that things get a lot better once intern year is out of the way. We'll see. We're getting married in October and had to really hound his employer when he first started to guarantee him the time off. So here's my advice: it's not impossible, but it's also not easy. If you feel strongly about this person and you are willing to make a lot of compromises over the next several years, go for it. Realize that you're in it for the long haul, and the long haul frankly sucks sometimes. Take things one step at a time, make sure to talk to each other, encourage each other, and keep each other healthy (it's so easy to give in to terrible fast food and pizza deliveries with everything going on). Try to make time to do things together, however simple. It is what it is.
  2. I don't see a procedure checklist for our Assessment check-off (like we had for the other check-offs). I've been using the handouts from the Assessment lecture to practice, but I feel a little nervous not having a step-by-step guide that lists exactly what's expected of us. I don't feel as prepared for this check-off as I have for the others. Anybody else feeling the same way?
  3. @readytodothis Thanks!
  4. What brand/model is the clicker?
  5. Our courses are still not on Blackboard, right? I just want to make sure I'm not the only one not seeing them when I log in. It makes me a bit nervous since classes are starting in one week.
  6. I talked with someone at the school today--the second 301 section was a mistake. I'm now in section 308 for Nursing I and 303 for Pharmacology I.
  7. Does anyone know anything about the second 301 section that was added on LoLA? The instructor is Ms. Dieck (the same instructor for the first 301 section at Ochsner Elmwood) and the date/time/location fields are TBA. There are 5 people in the class with 2 slots remaining. I live in Uptown and I would love to form a study group and/or meet up with some of you at orientation. I'm in section 301 for Nursing I and 303 for Pharmacology.
  8. I didn't realize there was a change in the schedule. The section I wanted on the Southshore was completely changed to an option on the Northshore! Is there anyone here who was looking to switch? If not, I guess I'll be emailing the coordinator...
  9. Oh no! I didn't realize that there was a change in the schedule and registered for the wrong clinical!
  10. @heather0208 Good luck tomorrow! I hope everything works out for you!
  11. I'm hoping to do Section 318 at Ochsner Main Campus. Anyone else going for Main Campus?
  12. My Immunitrax says "Records Matched" and that they'd update me when Charity accepts my paperwork. I turned in my CPR cerification and Student Nurse Liability Insurance on December 5th, so I'm sure that's why. I also haven't received any notification from LSBN yet. I checked LoLA, and there doesn't appear to be any holds on my registration. I think I will call Charity just to be sure. Where is everyone hoping to do their clinicals?
  13. @marchmadness Right!
  14. Have they posted the registration info/class schedule yet? I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking something. December 13th is coming up soon, and I'm getting a little anxious because I was hoping to map out my options before Registration day...
  15. I live Uptown, so I'd love to get in on the Southshore study group/clinicals :) Still gathering information on CPR classes...I'll post my findings in the next day or so!
