  1. Don't give up ,Juswanabenurse. There may very well be someone who doesn't get in for some sundry reason and you would miss out on the opportunity. Hope to see you in November.
  2. Congrats on getting in. As far as the books go, I saw the college site has a bookstore where there is a listing of what books are for what courses. However, I talked to a lady who is currently in the program and she advised waiting until the orientation when we get our book list just in case they change books. I did purchase next to the latest version of the A&P book they say they will be using off of amazon for $3.00 used just to get my nose into something while I waited. I want to get into the dosing book pretty quick though since that class has to be passed with 100%. See you in November.
  3. I would imagine so. I don't have my packet as yet. We get our mail forwarded to us as we are visiting in Idaho for the summer. I had the mail forwarding service read the letter to me today over the phone when I called to see if I had received anything from the school. I do know that I still need to take CPR and get one last Hep B shot. I also was thinking about monitoring the online A&P class this fall, since we won't be in the area until January. If nothing else, I'm going to buy the book they use ahead of time to help myself not feel so lost when I get to the class. I would really like to monitor the class though so I can have a feel for what the professors are expecting. We'll see though how it all works out. So many thoughts racing through my head right now.
  4. I scored 85.7. I know they are sending denial letters and acceptance letters, so you should be hearing something. If you don't hear anything by the end of the week, maybe email or call Casey to find out??
  5. I just found out this afternoon that I got into the online LVN program and can't wait 'till January.
  6. I got 85.7 without the science, so am hopeful. My biggest doubt is that I do not live in Denton County and I know that they will give preference to DC residents. But, still am hopeful and will see what happens. I, too, hurried through the science part as it didn't matter to them.
  7. Not yet here either. Was the 80.4 your score without the science? On pins and needles now that I know letters are going out. Woohoo! I bet you are on cloud nine.
  8. That is wonderful news!!!! Congrats to you. If you don't mind, would you share what your average score was for the required subjects?
  9. I went in around 11 and was out by 1:45, but I just whizzed through the science part as they weren't looking at it anyway at NCTC. I still wound up doing better on the science part though than the national or program scores. But anyway, that is why it didn't take as long as it normally would have taken. Plus, I wound up with anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes left over on the other portions. I started studying in late February, early March time frame, but not hard....just bits every day or so. We travel a lot, so I wanted to get an early start since I never know for sure what our travel status is going to be. There were a couple of weeks that I didn't study at all. The last 2 weeks though, I studied every day for a few hours a day in between homeschooling our 2 little ones.
  10. There were 23 questions on the reading portion of the test I took that related to topic/theme/main idea type stuff. That was what I was most afraid of, too, because I kept goofing when doing it in the book. But I scored in the 90's on that part, so some of it must have sunk in. I would say if you are studying the ATI book, just really get to where you can answer all the test questions as well as the practice questions that are listed in the book. That's what I did and it worked pretty well.
  11. The McGraw Hill book also helped in that it provided additional practice tests and, in some cases, better explanations. I had read that several people ran out of time when taking the test, but did not find that to be the case when I took it. If you can take the practice tests within the alloted time though, you'll do fine. Some of the math problems got a bit involved where you had to figure several things out to get to the answer, but there was no geometry and only a little algebra. Other than that, it was just basic math.
  12. The ATI book really helped. The transcript was pretty cool too in that it provided information on what I missed on the test....giving me the page #'s to study more should I have to take it again.
  13. Was your 92 with the Hesi for the traditional program or for the online program?
  14. According to what I read in the advisement session this time, there is not a pass/fail score....just the top 25 scores. I have taken the TEAS V test this week and made 85.7. The transcript I got back said the national average was 65% and the program average was 70%. The ATI book and the McGraw Hill book (the one with the 5 tests in it) did help a lot. The test format was very easy and I was emailed my results the next day after I took it. I was told that ATI sent the results to the school electronically the same time they sent it to me.
  15. I did the advisement for the online LVN program at NCTC and will take my test on May 21st. What date did you get your test scheduled? Did you have trouble scheduling the test? What seems to be the most difficult subject for you thus far? So far, the reading (finding the topic sentence and main idea sentence) seem to be giving me the most trouble. I talked to the director and reading, english, and math are all that are required, but I did read on the advisement session that we have to do the science;they just won't count it towards their admittance criteria. I was really glad of that. If you do get in, are you going to try to take A&P this fall?
