OK, so I am a little obsessed with tattoos because I have them. I also have to cover them up while on duty. I will say that the policy has varied greatly between the different facilities I've worked at. I would imagine that it is probably more restrictive with piercings. If it's on your wrist the watch idea seems like a good option or bracelets or the sleeves I wear in the wrist size or if it's not too hot long sleeves.

I've worked the night shift for years and like it. I am also a night owl. I have noticed that most of our friends also happen to work the night shift. It's hard to make friends that don't because of the schedule. I used to have trouble sleeping during the day. Making the room as dark as possible and wearing sleep mask helped a lot. Some of our friends have kids and they basically sleep when the kids are at school. I'm not sure I could imagine having a newborn and working the night shift though.

In my experience I have found that the larger facilities tend to be more conservative while smaller clinics seem more flexible. Good luck with your move. Tattoo policy varies quite a bit from place to place. I used to work for a private practice that allowed them to be visible. I now work the night shift at a hospital that has a no visible tattoo policy and even though it's the night shift I still have to cover my tattoos. I hated wearing baggy long sleeve shirts under my scrubs and eventually found these tattoo cover sleeves called Ink Armor. I can wear them for 10 hours in a row without any issues. You have to get the right size though or they will slide a bit. I wear the black full length although they come in skin tones.

I work a late night shift and even so visible tattoos are not allowed. I have a large tattoo on my left forearm. Wearing a long sleeve shirt just doesn't work for me.
