  1. I did the same thing FutureCPN. I was accepted to NYU for last Spring. I actually paid the deposit and then chickened out at the last minute due to the impending debt. They graciously rolled my application over to the Fall, but said that it would be a new applicant pool so they couldn't guarantee admission. I happened to find out about Concordia a few weeks later and applied. I was accepted to NYU again but I am 95% sure that I will go to Concordia. I'm just still weighing all of my options. I am in a different position than most though. I have 10 & 12 year old honor students that I need to send to college in just a few years. So, I need to be a bit more conservative. I feel like if I go to NYU... I am gambling with their college fund. The big name is soooo tempting though. If I was 25 and kid-less, I would probably think differently :) From what I can tell, Concordia has a higher NCLEX pass rate, and employment rate though... so I don't think either is a bad decision. My personal situation will more than likely have me in a study group with all of you in this fall though
  2. I just got accepted.. the email came at 8:13 EST. Good luck everyone!!
  3. Congrats Valentino8981... Hope to see you in the fall but no matter what happens, it's still a great accomplishment!!
  4. Thanks guys!! I am so excited. I can't wait to meet all of you. I absolutely understand the money situation, that's why I backed out of NYU last semester. I wanted to make sure that I was being financially responsible. This is a HUGE undertaking. I was so excited to find Concordia. I think it is actually a better fit. Everything happens in its own time. Things will work out I'm sure. I have a friend that did the program at Pace. She said its rough but if you are determined, you can probably work 15-20hrs per week. I was a waitress during undergrad. If you are willing to sacrifice a chunk if your weekend, and can find the right restaurant, it's surprisingly lucrative... Good luck!!
  5. I got my letter today. WOOO HOO!! I'm in too :)
  6. Congrats guys!! So excited for both of you.
  7. I sent an email today to inquire about the possibility of an April 1 mailing. Also to see if the 3/11 candidates would be mailed two weeks later. I was told that they just got back from Easter break, and ******will still be out until Wednesday. The letters won't go out at least until ***** gets back, he is processing them. So at the earliest they may be mailed late this week or early next week. Hope that helps. Looks like no racing to the mailbox this week :)
  8. So I started racing to the mailbox again today... all I had was junkmail. Anyone else?
  9. I did. We went back and forth a few times. I would think that you could still send a note. It will show your interest. Good luck!
  10. Hey AccelBSN12, I just tried to PM' you. I didn't realize that you sent a message FOREVER ago. It was my first and I didn't know it was there. LOL Anyway, I tried to respond and got the following error, "AccelBSN12 has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space." I just figured I'd let you know... in case you weren't aware. GM
  11. I was accepted into the Spring 2013 ABSN class. I didn't go, because I couldn't swallow the price tag. I am older and in a different situation than you are though. It is an AMAZING school. NYU will appreciate a upward trend, keep getting those A's. They don't look at just the GPA, they are more concerned with you being a well rounded student. Both the essay and recommendations are VERY important. They can be used to sell you to the admissions board. Make sure that those are awesome and then give it a shot. Good luck!
  12. @lahhere Thanks SO much for the update. It stinks that it will be awhile, but it's great to know. @kjoseph591 I copied the following from my invite: Upon arrival at the College we ask that you stop at the reception in the circular driveway off of White Plains Road to get a parking pass, if you are driving. The nursing department is located in Brunn Maier hall; the building to the right of the library. Upon entering the building we are located through the double wooden doors on the right, up the full set of stairs. Good Luck!!
  13. RachPapp, You are AMAZING thank you SOOOOO much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. It is so great to have a link into the inside. I am done with my pre-reqs so academically, I am just hangin around until Fall. I had planned to start NYU this semester but when push came to shove, I just couldn't handle taking that big of a loan out. I am way to conservative, and with kids in middle school, I thought I needed a better option. One of the teachers at school told me about Concordia when I was stressing about NYU. I hadn't heard of it until just a few months ago. It seems like a MUCH better fit. My fingers are crossed and I am hanging onto the idea that everything happens for a reason. I ordered the book already, my anxiety always gets the best of me. If there is one piece of advice in there that can teach me how to not be such a maniac about grades it will be worth it LOL. I was ok in undergrad and did very well. I got A's but didn't stress about them. When I came back for the pre-reqs I kept thinking, "THEY HAVE TO BE ALL A's". So, I drove myself crazy. I am guessing that I am going to need a little bit of reprogramming. :) I already took Nutrition and Dev Psych so that I could apply to other schools, so luckily I can check that box. I guess I will have no choice but to plan a GREAT summer and enjoy. As far as next fall, in the past I have been that "old fashioned notebook and pen girl". In fact, people have made fun of my notes saying that it is more dictation than note-taking LOL. I can see the value in working with the laptop, but that is definitely going to take some getting used too. I can't waited to get started... stinks that we have to wait till September. I guess getting an acceptance letter will have to be good enough for now. If it would just get here.... Thanks again... YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
  14. Dannygurl84 I think you will be fine. I did A&PI and Developmental Psych in session I and A&PII and Nutrition in session II last summer. I was able to get all A's. It was a lot of work, but if you can break it up into multiple sessions it can be done. Good luck!
  15. RachPapp, Is there anything that you wish you had done to prepare yourself better academically prior to starting school? I have the general idea... save some money, teach my husband to do the laundry, get organized, relax with the family yada yada yada... but is there anything else? Any book suggestions anyone?
