I have 2 questions that I can't figure out. Here is the first one and my attempt at it: Order 50mcg/kg/min. Label states 1mL=0.25 mg. How many mL is needed for this order? 50mcg x 1mg x 1ml 1000 mcg 0.25mg = 5mL ? feel like I am missing something? Then this one I have no clue how to attempt but here is what i put down seems like it's too long to me Order 4 mcg/kg/min, IV bag has 800mg of Dopamine in 500mL of D5W. Patient weighs 70kg. Drop factor is 10drops=1mL. What is the flow rate in drops per hour? 70kg x 4mcg x 1mg x 60min x 500ml kg/min 1000mcg 1Hr 800mg = thanks

I am having the hardest time with this question. A child BSA is 1.1 M2. If a prescribed drug is ordered at 45/mg/m2 PO, how many milligrams of the drug should the child receive? Can someone show me how to do this problem? The BSA is confusing me, do I compare with an adults?

Hi Don't Panic. It really depends on the school. Get the highest grades you can in your pre-requisites this way you will be picked quicker. In my school, they start from 4.0 down to 3.0 which is the lowest GPA for pre-reqs that will be accepted. So, lets say you have a 3.8 pre-req GPA, your chance of getting picked first for the 100 seats available for that semester is pretty good. I think this is what you mean by waiting list because that's what we call it. Call your school and see how many seats they fill at applicatino time for Nursing 110 and ask how they pick you. My school is a combination of GPA and the NLN. Good Luck !

Thanks so much for the site :). I am going to check it out tomorrow and do a bunch of problems. I was so stuck on those two questions. All I needed was the formula that Fortheloveof was kind enough to walk me through and I was good to go.

I can't thank you enough ! It is just what I needed.. The Formula. My professor does not teach us at all and we have to figure out everything ourselves which is tough. This test will be my last before the final. Got 96 on the first and 100 on the second. All self taught ! Now I know how to do this type of calculation... Thanks again I really appreciate it !

How many mililitters per hour will the patient recieve. and Order: Add 50,000 units of heparin to 500 ML D5W. Infuse at a rate of 900 units per hour IVPB. Calculate the flow rate in ML per hour.
