suzanne: tomorrow i will be making a major effort to get some answers from them. will definately let you know the out come. meanwhile, i very much appreciate your interest and attention to my (and everyone else's) troubles here. are you a nurse? are you american? just curious.....

right you are..problem is that i can't seem to get ANY information from cgfns/ichp. do you have any suggestion or know of a specific person to contact there so that i might be more successful? I have sent numerous emails to support@cgfns and support@ichp which went unanswered. those i have talked to by phone are completely uninformed. THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME!

thanks for the input. actually, they (ichp) specifically only want me to fulfill THEORETICAL, not clinical, in these two areas. this is why I thought the excelsior exams might suffice.

yes. once i passed the nclex, i was given a nursing liscense (NY state), went looking for a sponsor (hospital)...they have submitted the green card application (ie change of status from an F-1 visa) and obtained the work permit for me that allows me to work while the green card application (including visa screen) is processed. probably the work permit becomes invalid if the visa screen/green card application is denied which is why i am so concerned to understand what it is they want from me (the excelsior question). good luck

I am a nurse from Germany. In 2002 I was approved by the NY board of nursing to take the passed the NCLEX-RN , which I passed, and have been working for the last 2 years with a work permit at a NYC hospital which is sponsoring me for a green card. I passed the english exam required for the visa screen but last month was told by ICHP that my German nursing education was 'deficient' in 2 areas (child nursing and psychiatric nursing) and that i need to enroll in a nursing school and take these courses. Since I work full time, this is essentially impossible. Excelsior College offers a distance learning program for exams in these 2 areas and I am wondering if ICHP will accept this to fulfill their visa screen requirements. I have tried repeatedly, by both email and phone, to get an answer from them but the person I speak with either has no clue about what the requirement actually is, or doesn't even reply. Needless to say, I am both very anxious and frustrated. Any help from anyone of you would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!
